Help:Pro Supex Blue Gear Hybrid

A few months ago I tried the Pro Supex Blue Gear and like it. I know people say swing not string gives you topspin. BS on that. I crush the ball pretty flat and this string really bites and spins the ball like a mother!

My question is for those that use Blue Gear.

If you wanted to go Hybrid with Blue Gear, what would you string it with and which are the crosses and mains?

I want the added spin, more touch, and added feel. What do you think?

New to Blue Gear but so far very impressed. It seems to be living up to all the hype. In the crosses we are using Prince Lightning Power XX. Very nice combination giving control and spin. The Lightning Power in addition to softening up the stringbed produces increased power and feel offsetting the poly characteristics of Blue Gear. Also been very impressed by the durability of this particular Prince string. It has lasted twice as long as any 17g (syngut) that we've used in any hybrid setups to date.

Racquet used for this combination is the T-Fight 320 16x20

I use BG mains at 52 or 54 and a soft titan syn gut cross at 55 or 57. Racing dad's comments were dead on. It's much better as a hybrid and I think you'll love the setup. Spin is still great but the syn gut gives you a bit more pop.

Presently I use BG in the Ms and PSGD in the Xs. I'm getting ready to cut out that setup and string BG 1.25(Ms) and Titan 1.25 in the Xs. I use Titan in my BA setup and like the Titan as a cross string.

hey PED... you have my curiosity up about BG 1.28. I'm going to order a few sets and try it out. I think I'm liking the BG much better then BA, in my setups.

To clarify a few things. What is PSGD? I think it is a Pro Supex product but which? And the Titan you refer to is Pro Supex Titan or the company Titan that makes inexpensive natural gut?

I hate trying to find string!!!

Also, I don't ever break strings. Should I go 17g, 16g, or a combination of both.

I have tried so many strings and Pro Supex seems to be the best in durability and price. If I can find a hybrid combination using the Blue Gear I might join the tour!!!

Well, being 34, slow, and 4.0 player might not help much on tour. I just want to use the same setup for a year or more without changing.

This is Pro Supex's Synthetic Titan:

Give it a shot robkat. I've played with all 3 sizes in the last month: 1.19, 1.25 and 1.28 and the 1.28 by far is the "most blue gear" of the 3. I found that I got the most action with the 1.28 and I also find it very comfy. I wish I'd order 1.28 instead of 1.25 but I still really like the 1.25 and as you know, the spin is wicked coming off that stringbed.:twisted:

I was playing on clay yesterday and was getting some nice deep shots with loads of action. I had the 1.25 at 52/55 with titan and really liked it.

If you really want more spin, touch and feel, combine the BG with a Gut string, Tec X-1 Biphase or PS Maxim Touch (most expensive to least). Either one will add nicely to power, touch and feel. If you mix gauges you can add more spin also. You will have to play with the tension to get the right balance but give it a shot.

Same setup here--BG 1.25 and 1.28/Titan @ 52/55. Am going to be trying some white Forten Sweet w/ 1.28 BG soon to compare to Titan. The Forten feels very soft to the touch-almost feels like a softer multi. Could be really nice with the thicker BG which will have nasttteee spin:twisted: 1.28 BG has more spin potential than the 1.25 IMO, with the 1.25 being a better "all around" string. 1.28 is great for extra control and baslining all day!:)

HA...all that court time spent...string mfgs are making it too easy. need to give this BG a try when TW stocks it.

Which gauge do you recommend overall and why?

Just ordered my some BG 1.28 and titan 1.25. cannot wait to try this hybrid out!!
well I finally got my racquet strung with this setup. went with BG@52 in the mains and the titan@55 in the crosses. I really love this setup. feels great; generates great spin and control. My serve is banging now with alot of kick on it!! highly recommend this setup!! Not to mention a heck of a price for a setup like this, gotta love it being so cheap!!

I heard this is a pretty nice hybrid. But I don't like how the titan syntehtic gut is 20 more dollars in a reel than the gosen.

Try stringing up blue gear 17 and forten sweet 17 @ 56/58! Its my favorite setup so far. I get so much bite on the ball and I have good control with my shots. Give it a whirl :)

I use an AG200 with and 18*20 string patter and I string full poly at 61.5 lbs and I love it. And don't lose much tension even after play.

Oh, and I use 18g btw.

Where are they selling it for so much? Have you checked out the Bay yet?

It's two different strings from two different manufacturers (Goosen vs PS Titan)...Just like PSGD vs Wilson Sensation. Prices vary.

Sorry to revive this subject....but I just discovered blue gear amd WOW!!!

You really can hit topspin automatically!

The only downside is a loss of feel....but it's worth it. I don't hybrid it at all.....I just love this string .

By the way they now sell it in white instead of the ugly blue color.
