i recently switched to head ultr tour 16l @ 55 for the mains on my flxpt tour and nxt-16 @ 58 on the crosses as i was breaking strings on straight nxt and didnt like the feel of straight ultr tour. it plays good except the nxt keeps fraying after a week or two ( i play 3 times per week). the ultra tour lasts fine...... any suggestions? i have heard luxicon big banger alu power?
i am a 3.5 SW fhd, 2 hd bhd player.

Don't use a multifiliment in the crosses if you want durability. Even with an all NXT stringjob, the crosses often fray and break before the mains. Try your ultra tour in the mains (if you like that feel) and a regular synthetic gut (Wilson synthetic, Prince Synthetic, even Prince Lightning) in the crosses. Since these are not quite as soft as NXT, you could drop the tension of the crosses by 3 pounds to compensate. Normally, with a poly in the mains, the 3# difference in the crosses won't be noticed much, but you will get a slightly softer feel by doing it.
