Help with essay on why grunting should NOT be banned

hi i'm writing a persuasive speech for english on why grunting should NOT be banned. so far i've thought of how it would disenfranchise/wouldn't be fair to those who grunting ever since they were young. grunting is acutally good for you because it strenghts your core and helps you become more balanced when you hit, and ridiculousness factor, like in martial arts when they say KIA or at Planet Fitness where grunting is prohibited surprisingly. Any other thoughts? could use some more. just thought of another one. it discriminates against grunters? maybe not. but if i did do that one, how could i argue it? thanks

Simple rules for writing an essay: Make a claim, back it up with evidence. Otherwise, I'm done reading after the title.

I'm assuming you meant "it strengthens your core"
- How? Evidence? Research the area.
Helps you become more balanced.
- How? Evidence? Research the area.
You say it's not fair for the grunters if it was to be banned.
- What about to the non-grunters, grew up playing in a non-grunting society, isn't grunting unfair to these players then?

Choose a different topic. When you choose a silly and frivolous topic (like this one), the teacher will continue to think of you as silly and frivolous.

I think the main argument against it is that poeple would start watching Womens tennis with the volume on hear the terrible announcing and not watch it at all.

you have got to confuse the issue by bringing in the race card, the sex card and then claiming discrimination like the big time lawyers would do :-)

I don't like the topic, I say ban the screamers, but...maybe address how it's sometimes impossible to hit a shot without making some verbal sound, and an attempt to ban screaming (sorry, 'grunting',) would be difficult to enforce, where do you draw the line between inadvertent, unavoidable vocalization and Sharapova?

Helps in breathing (exhalation) at impact

Synchronizes whole body to the action

Serves as a periodic rhythm

Loud grunting acts as a defense mechanism, preventing our planet from being attacked by hostile, carnivorous Martians.

It's worked until now.

Haha, not sure what some posters are talking about. I kinda get turned on hearing all the grunting from these fit, attractive women :P

You could argue what's the point in attempting to ban it. From what I hear, they're planning on 'fining' pros from grunting. My guess is that these fines would be similar to me having to hand out pennies for J-walking :P

I hardly think any pro's gonna stop grunting, losing in some cases millions of dollars all for the sake of a silly new initiative. It's pretty sad, considering I even grunt at times in the process of hitting a shot that my body doesn't approve of, lol.

Tennis fans think grunting is annoying, they should watch curling, lmao. HARD, HARD, HURRRRY HARD.. Lmao.

Maybe I gave you some thoughts for your paper, hopefully anyways. Personally don't believe any of the pro ladies are gonna just stop grunting for fear of a fine or two.

this is what Victoria Azarenka had to say about it:

Q. [...] [Is grunting] something you could go on the court and adjust like that, or is this something that will be with us for your entire career?

VICTORIA AZARENKA: Well, it will be with me for my entire career. But let me put it that way: Do you snore?

Q. I do, actually.

VICTORIA AZARENKA: Can you control that?

Q. Well, there are ways, I guess.

VICTORIA AZARENKA: There are ways? But you still snore, right?

Q. Yeah.

VICTORIA AZARENKA: So it's natural to you, right? So that's natural to me, too, the way I play tennis. That's it.

Q. I mean, when people bring this up or people say...

VICTORIA AZARENKA: Sorry, but it probably distracts your wife, if you have a wife, I don't know, right?

Q. There you go.

VICTORIA AZARENKA: There you go.

Mandatory Breathe-Rite strips for the grunters. BAMMMM ... problem solved.:o

Did anyone say 'gets them ready for childbirth' yet?

How about 'during the spring tournaments it reminds female water buffaloes that it's time to choose a mate'?

thanks for all the feedback! its been really helpful. i was just wondering if anyone can think of an example in other sports where players could be asked to stop doing something natural. ie i thought of basketball player's shoes squeaking too much. that's a bad one. but i can't think of anything else for other sports. maybe saying kia in karate? thx

Basketball players squeak their shoes because of the constant and rapid change in direction. So do tennis players on hard court.

However, some tennis players shriek and grunt just because they can.

That's a ridiculous comparison. Snoring is not something you are consciously aware of doing.

First of all she is a liar. She obviously shows no respect for the sport by intentionally distracting her opponent then underhandedly claiming that she can't control her screams.

Second it makes many not want to watch her matches and thats not good is it?
