help with final decision on ball machine?

Neither machine (including any Lobster model) has any form of position recognition. They have no way of knowing where they are on the court, or whether they are on a tennis court at all.
The Spinfire sensors you refer to automatically recenter the sending unit to the body. That is indeed a useful function. The Lobster never self centers after use. That's the function of the Lobster's "test" button.
This makes using the Lobster more difficult when you want a non-centered send position, but all that is required is that you calibrate the center position, which centers the unit, then move to your new location.

This is me saying that I may be wrong using self-deprecating (making fun of myself) humor, and have not used any other ball machines. I never called you anything.
Let's just slow down here. Many languages. Difficult to describe features. My odd and apparently misconstrued sense of humor. The internets are srs bizness.
Maybe we were all getting a bit confused. I also thought tennissavy was stating that the spinfire could detect where it was on the court with sensors. Reading the literature it sounded more like an auto calibration. I pointed out that my SP Smart also has an auto calibration that recenters everything to see if that's what he meant. There's no doubt that tennissavy has posted valuable information on the spinfire - it is appreciated.

Well, actually there is an infrared sensor. This is even mentioned on Susan's website at http://www.mambatennis.com/spinfire-pro-2/
'Calibration
Utilizing infrared sensors, the Spinfire Pro 2 will calibrate itself before every use, allowing you to line up the machine to the center of the court. When turning off horizontal or vertical oscillation the machine will calibrate itself back to its original position.'
The sensors are used to calibrate the machine, not to reposition the machine in relation to the court after you move or re-orient it.

looking for cardio need more exercise! average court time per charge for those machine? can I get one with remote control for 1k? I believe they can do topspin and backspin nowadays? that's so nice. I play in public court so don't want it to be too loud if possible. what's your suggestion when getting them used? not a good idea? how much do they drop in price after it's used? thanks so much for your help.

Renting is available depending on where you are, but renting is not cheap. Where I live it's about $50/day + $30 additional days ($90/weekend). Silent Partner's Edge series are all under $1K with remotes and do top/back spin with less programmability than higher end machines. I almost bought one of their used top of the line ones on kijiji which was 2 yrs old for $900 which was about 1/2 price of retail but there's no hard and fast rule as to what people want to seel their used machines for. I didn't see a problem with buying used as SP has been around quite a while and provide good in and out of warranty support. I've heard that pressureless balls last about 3 years at least while for pressurized a few weeks unless you are happy to hit with them after that. The former don't really hurt your arm. It's just the ball has a bit of a different feeling when you hit.

Hey TT, are you still here? I'm posting here as well as another thread because I'm new to this and not sure if you are still monitoring the other thread.
I too am in the Great White North (Vancouver) and am wondering if you got your Spinfire in Canada. I can't find anything here except it seems their Canadian website is under construction. If you bought in Canada, can you say where and how much? It looks like US price is about $2100 so with exchange rate, duty and delivery the price will be pushing $3,000. All that aside, are you still loving your machine? Cheers, Jack.
