Help with polyester strings

I've tried many polys and have liked almost every single one that I've tried. The only thing I don't like is their lack of tension maintenance.

I was wondering if you guys have any recommendations of polys that have good tension maintenance, control, and spin. I would also love if they're on the cheaper side!
I've used RPM, Black Code, Red Code, BB Alu Power, BB Alu Power Rough, BB Original, and Volkl Cyclone.

P.S I have no arm issues and i use the Wilson Blx Six one 95 16x18 (the old version)

Signum Pro and WeissCANNON strings are widely regarded to hold tension better than most polys.

Agreed. Iontec seems to do well, too.
The RedCode that you tried is pretty good in that department, as well.
Don't expect a whole lot more than that from any poly, though

Big Hitter Blue Rough is very good at holding tension and one of the most powerful and spinny poly around. Its brother the BHB7 is pretty good too I heard.

for cheaper side you should definitely try BHBR (as 2Hare mentioned) and Genesis Typhoon. Both cheap, spinny and powerful.

I string it lower than you (50/53 full bed) but it doesn't hurt my arm either.

I never found it stiff, regardless of tension (to an extent, obviously). It didn't give like other polys, but it isn't one of the ones that will hurt your arm like bbo or revenge.

..except that you've said on several occasions previously that you string it in the low 40s and hybrid it with Gosen, in an open 100sq", so you're hardly going to find it 'stiff' with that type of setup.

Doesn't mean the string isn't stiff.

That's just a lie. I never hybrided it with gosen and I strung it at 53/55 with addiction as a cross and it felt fine. I also did the same hybrid in my rebels and had no issues.

Maybe it's just me, but I found B5E to be pretty comfortable, at least at 42. Lot of spin, not much power. Seemed to last a long time too.

...yet even in your own playtest thread you've said this for B5E:

Yes I did. Did you check what other polys rated at 7/10 were? That's definitely one of the softer polys. You are struggling for an argument. You are the only person who thinks it's a stiff poly.

Not immediately, but there will be greater suspectibility to wear and tear over time. Very little give or elasticity to B5E.

I can buy this.

Let's talk about how stiff Gosen OGSM is next.

It's not a soft poly at all. It doesn't initially feel stiff, but it is deceptively hard on the arm because it has such little give.

If you're giving it 7/10 on the stiffness scale, with 10 being the stiffest you can get then, then its towards the stiffer end of the range, even under your own ratings. Either that or you've got into a muddle with your numbers, or your views change depending on what day of the week it is.

It's a 7/10 compared to all other strings. Most polys are around 8/10.

Then something like Scorpion and Silverstring must be around 5/10 (using your relative scoring) and BHBR / BHB7 must be 3/10 or 4/10 and Black Widow must be 1/10. Natural gut must be -17.

If you had no set scale, then yes. Trying to use a much less than exact scale that I use for general reference with string testing to argue something of which you are vastly outnumbered is quite simply illogical and nonsensical. This is a useless argument due to the simple fact that we have a differing option on a string.

Your analysis is simply wrong, and your views are just contradictory.

First you say it isn't a stiff string. Then, contradicting yourself, you score it as a stiff string since you score it 7/10 (10 being the stiffest).

Then just to compound your muddled thinking and scoring, you play with it mixed with Gosen, Addiction or whatever soft nylon that you have at hand.

You might you want to reflect on whether your penchant for the phrase 'illogical and nonsensical' should be directed at your own evaluation and your own comments.

I really couldn't care less I'm supposedly 'vastly outnumbered' - a band of 10 fools proclaiming B5E to be soft and arm friendly are still band of 10 fools.

Obviously it's not a soft a string. It's poly. The 7/10 was the full bed rating. My "muddled" thinking is because I tried to give a rough estimate of stiffness for people that wanted to know. You are simply arguing because you have a different opinion. You started the argument with flawed facts and then simply tried to act as if all my experiences were false.

You are simply arguing that my experiences are somehow false, while the simple fact of the matter is that we have different opinions on strings.

I put that into Google Translate and I still don't know what you're trying to say.

B5E is not a soft, arm friendly poly. You can string it at 20lbs to try and compensate for the lack of give, so that the stringbed feels softer than it otherwise might be at normal tension ranges...you can string it in a Big Bubba so that the extra string length adds a small amount of additional give...and you can even hybrid it with a nylon or a natural gut string to soften the stringbed overall, but none of that changes the fact that B5E of itself, is not a soft, arm friendly poly. The only accurate comment you've made is initially assessing it as 7/10 in terms of stiffness, so why you would subsequently backtrack on that is anyone's guess.

Let me clear this up for you (and indeed anyone else who has the misfortune to stumble upon your contradictory comments).

B5E is not a soft, arm friendly poly.

...for you. I will refrain from making sweeping generalizations since my experience is all I have to go on. My elbow is not your elbow. My arm is not your arm. My perception is not your perception. I found B5E to be easy on my arm when strung tight in a relatively stiff frame. I also strung it full bed in a PDGT+, a Prince O3 White, a Volkl X8 300, a HEAD YT Extreme MP, and some Tecnifibre tweener I had last summer, all at 60 lbs., and still had no pain. I know that my elbow is not immune to TE as I cannot play pain-free with Luxilon strings, but perhaps it is less sensitive than most. I cannot say because I have only ever had one right elbow.

^^^ You forgot the "in my opinion part"

Not required on this occasion. If you can have strong view to the contrary, feel free to go grind with it for 10-12 hours a week for a couple of months at normal tension ranges, and let me know how your arm feels because I'm not saying any of this for my benefit.

to me all Weisscannon strings are stiff! They are less comfortable to my arm than Alu Power. They are just so inelastic, where as Alu would stretch and have good return of energy, Weiss just make the balls die on string bed and your arm ending up sulking up the energy. I suppose that give it more control for some people.

I did. At high tensions. And my arm was fine.
