Henin is so good, I think she can beat an ATP #100!

The Williams sisters couldn't, because their game is one dimensional. It's all based on power and there's no way a woman (not even them) is going to out-power a man. But Justine is different. She's the most skilled and technical WTA player to have existed. I think she could do it... Ok, flame the s--- out of me :p

Not the women vs men again !! But I think we can all agree that Justine would get a lot closer than any other woman.

yea she has no chance but compared to other women she would be the closest. Mainly because her game does not revolve around power. But still no chance lol

I think she could, but the serve would be the deciding factor. I don't think hers would be good enough for average return of serve among men in top 100, would be broken too often though I think she would get a number of good points through her great ground game. Mental factor would be very pertinent also.

Wouldn't happen. It wouldn't even be competitive. Way off on this one Ripper. ;)

The deciding factors will be the disparity in movement capability and comparative strength, as it always is between male and female professional players. Bagels all the way.

Women's tennis is a complete joke.

45 minutes worth of unforced errors

And then "where is my big fat check that the men's game subsidizes?"

i don't know about justine beating men on the ATP... but i will say that she's probably the only girl i enjoy watching for the sake of the tennis. there are other girls i enjoy watching, but it's not for their tennis. ;) although this year's women's us open was so boring i actually forgot that they played their finals today and missed it.

Oh brother not this thread again...

I remember hearing/reading somewhere (probably on these forums) that sharapova lost to a junior at some academy...and that one of the william sisters lost to an old man who smoked/drank during the changeovers. I'm not a sexist or anything, but Henin without a doubt would lose to a top notch division I or even II college player.

serena may not beat a guy in tennis, but im sure she would beat the hell outta skinny guys like chela or del potro in a fight or arm wrestling... damn she got big.

I'm not going to mention any names but when I was a 17 year old freshman in college I beat the #5 woman in the world more than once in practice matches. There is no comparison between the men's and women's tours. Henin, just by virtue of her size (5'5", 125 lbs), would not be able to compete on the men's tour. She is without question the #1 female player in the world--that's good enough for me. How she compares to the men has no relevance.

Im not gonna mention who or where but I took a set off Nadal once.
Oh, back to the thread, I saw Justine practicing return of serve with a junior at USO, and consistently crushing it.
As for how she would do against a ATP top 100 different story.

She'd be completely spent after about 5 or 6 games. Henin is amazingly talented, but slight even for women's tennis.

marion bartoli.

I think Henin would play a close match versus an atp #500. Ive seen some of those atp guys ranked 300-1000 play at the futures events and I think Henin would beat some of those.

I don't think so but.....................whatever. Have you seen Henin play, btw?

Yeh I've seen Henin play a few times close up.

In my opinion she would beat some atp 500 guys and would also lose to some guys ranked 1500. It just depends on the match up.

because the men serve so big, I don't see her breaking the serve of an ATP #100 ranked player and in tennis, if you cannot break your opponent's serve, you cannot win (unless you beat him/her in the tie-breakers)

This for real or a joke ? Man shes tiny. Shes serve would be thumped all over, and Id just like to see her return one isner or karlovic or roddick serve, just for power. Precisionwise you can talk about other players but top 100 ? Cmon Feliciano Lopes is 60 and he beat the hell out of federer in 1st set by serving something that would kill Justine if she got hit.

Again dont mix things which are not ment to be mixed. Like with alcohol .

Justines backhand is probably better then both Roddick and Moya.

I guess Roddick and Moya would have pretty good backhands against any WTA player. Henin's backhand is very nice but would it still be if there is different pace.

it depends heavily on the style of play of the man she would go up against...

She'd have no chance against someone like Mirnyi, but how about a little guy like one of the Rochus brothers?

The 'little guys' beat up on Safin quite frequently....

Men's serves would be virually impossible for her to return & all she could do would be to hope for double faults. And their ground strokes, would overpower her.

But then her opponent might have to retire, having been overcome by laughter.

The truth is that RIGHT NOW, 47 year old John McEnroe would beat Justine. That's not a knock on her or the women's game, but just ask Chris Evert about the disparity.

When she was number ONE in the world, she said she'd play John Lloyd, her first husband in practice sets. One time when he had slipped to like 270 in the world, he beat her 6-0, 6-1, 6-0.

The difference is NIGHT AND DAY. That's not sexist, it's the truth.

I'm in my early 40's and recently clocked a number two division one college female.
