Seven-time Grand Slam champion Justine Henin says she will miss the U.S. Open after partially tearing a ligament in her right elbow during a fall at Wimbledon. Henin says Thursday on her website that the injury will keep her off the tour for about two months.

She says she’ll withdraw from the American hard-court circuit, including the U.S. Open, which she won in 2003 and 2007. The year’s last major tournament begins in New York on Aug. 30.
Henin took a tumble in the first set of her fourth-round loss to Kim Clijsters at Wimbledon on Monday.
Henin says she won’t play the “Best of Belgium” exhibition match in Brussels against Clijsters on July 8, but plans to attend the event.

Serena may take her place at the Belgian exo.

Bummer. I tipped Henin to make it far in the US Open.

That right elbow injury must have been gotten from the bad fall she took during her match against Clijsters,if not she would have won. Poor Justine.

And why is Serena playing in an all-Belgian exho? It's supposed to celebrate Belgium taking over the head of the EU so finding an American player to play against Clijsters doesn't make sense.

A world record tennis crowd has watched Kim Clijsters defeat Wimbledon champion Serena Williams 6-3, 6-2 in an exhibition in Brussels. The crowd of 35,681 at King Baudouin Stadium on Thursday surpassed the previous record of 30,472 set in 1973 at the Houston Astrodome in the Battle of the Sexes match between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs.

Clijsters was originally scheduled to play Belgian Justine Henin, but Henin withdrew after injuring her elbow at Wimbledon. Top-ranked Williams agreed to replace Henin despite a foot injury.
The match was umpired by tennis great Martina Navratilova.

I feel badly for the 36K who wasted their money watching that.
