Henman : Federer is the best player to have ever lived

I tend to agree, that Federer isnt even clearly the best of his era anymore, pretty much ends any serious consideration he could be the best of all time. The same goes for Nadal though who isnt yet clearly the best of his era either. People debate who is best of this era- Federer or Nadal at this point, and it eliminates either from being considered best ever, until Nadal pulls clearly ahead which he probably will.

Nadal beat Federer in Miami 2004, choked in the 2005 Miami final when Nadal was up 2 set to love and 4-1 in the 3rd set. This was a peak Federer getting humiliated by a baby Rafa on a hardcourt. What a joke. Nadal was inexperienced and lost only because of that.
Federer lost to Nadal in 2006 Dubai final on a very fast hardcourt at Federer's absolute peak.
Nadal choked the 2007 Wimbledon final and should have won the 2nd set in the 2006 Wimbledon final if he didn't get nervous (he won the 3rd set). That's Federer struggling at Wimbledon at his peak against an inexperienced Nadal.

And we are supposed to call this guy the best player ever? Dream on!

I see you are reviving your old accounts as your new ones are getting banned. Seriously can TTW not track this guy's IP??

Also Federer beat Nadal on clay in 2009 (Nadal's Peak) what happened to that?
Federer bageled Nadal in wimbledon in 2006.
Federer also bageled Nadal ON CLAY in Hamburg in 2007
Not to forget the bagel in the WTF in 2011

Henman is part of the majority who believe Roger is the best. Fed-detractors just better get use to it because you will hear it all the times by vast majority of experts and ex-players.

I don't think this is true. The "vast majority" thing. There is hardly an ironclad argument for this anymore.

That said, it's ok for Henman to believe this. Plenty of people are going to have their own opinions. Some will think Federer is the best ever, some will think Nadal, and some will think neither. This is ok.

It's hard for anyone to be "wrong" in something relatively subjective.

Fed once gave a ride to Henman in his (time-share) private jet. Henman is still grateful for that.

That, and the one-handed backhand camaraderie.

Another thing they share is that they have both been eclipsed by a 2 hander: Nadal and Murray respectively.

I disagree. Federer set a new standard in tennis and I believe 75% of the total population considered him the goat while the rest of the 25% goes to Laver, Nadal, Sampras, Borg and a few others.

Watching tennis, listening to commentators, ex-players, sport analyst, columnists from the internet will give one a clear idea understanding of which player is chosen as goat. Michael Jordan's name gets mention most of the time when talking about greatest basketball player of all time.

I agree, and it is mostly Laver, Nadal, Serena, and Graf. Federer is only a very occasional name brought up for GOATness these days, kind of like Evert or Sampras.

Is "these days" , the last 4 years, since Fed won the FO-Wim 2009 ? If so, that is correct and from that time , i havent heard anyone dare say FED is NOT the GOAT.

seriously who is this guy?

Well he denied him 6-8 additional majors, turned him from a top 3 clay courter all time to a top 15 at best, and put a huge question mark on Federer's potential GOAT status whereas otherwise there would be none.
While Federer got the weeks no 1 record, and reserved the weeks at no 2 record for Nadal, so it goes both ways.

Federer isn't even the best in his own era. Federer accumulated most of his slams when there was weak competition or when he didn't have to face Nadal. Nadal was beating him on hardcourt in 2004, choked in 2005 and 2006. A prime Federer struggled to beat a 19 year old Nadal on hardcourt. That alone shows Federer isn't even the best of his own era let alone the best in history.
Prime Federer is 5-2 against Nadal off clay.

seriously who is this guy?

Is that your picture. Wouldnt surprise me.

I am talking about in the real World, not on Tennis Federer Warehouse. Watch the U.S Open this year and is anyone talking about Federer as the GOAT? Nooooo. He is already yesterdays news in that regard, just like Sampras became several years ago.

Was that prime Nadal? Next.

He won 8 Wimbledon's first and is always the All England Club's favorite.
Still the best in terms of aesthetics. Just fell short at 40-15 in 2019.
