Does he know there are people listening? Sexual innuendoes, acting like a fanboy, laughing out loud, very juvenile behaviour from a middle-aged man!

I think he makes a great change from the usual boring tone, and they seem to only have him on courts where the French are playing.

He comments like a Latin football commentator. They need him for some light relief, but as a main act - no.

Even Courier complains that the can not commentate while the point is on, which I agree with.

But it indicates that there are vastly different styles of commenting.

Tennis is actually more exciting on radio and the commentary more closely resembles Leconte via that medium.

What about the 'being careful with the ball' when you hit the betweener shot remark/pun in the 1st set? wouldn't have heard that during the radio days!

I don't know who the Aussie was in the booth with Leconte but his accent was so thick a couple times I couldn't even follow him. At one point he used the word "favorite" in referring to Tsonga but I heard it as Five writ and got completely lost. But yeah, I agree about Leconte. Listening to Leconte I couldn't help thinking that as much as I love to hear a French woman speaking English, the effect doesn't extend to French men.
