Well, I've received the package a few weeks but now I have time to do some pictures and test.. I was so excited when I received the racquets but it came out quite disappointed compare to my previous KPS88 experience. I play with 4 1/4 and all came as 4 3/8 and 4 1/2.. i am very picky about gripsize since I play 1HBH and 4 1/4 suite me best. The Head SPEED PRO looks nice BUT it has the round shape like Prince head.. This is totally difference racquet that Djokovic is playing right now.. that sucks.. I am kind of turn off by all of these fake paint jobs and etc.. unlike the KPS88.. it's a REAL racquet..

Here are some pictures of actual HEAD Speed PRO, Head SPEED MP 16x19 and HEAD SPEED MP 18x20. I was told that the Head Speed MP 18x20 is not released with the 16x19 or so..

rtdxs0.jpg

There is also a new Tour Team bag and bag pack.. I did not like the Tour Team that much so I took the bag pack.. it looks classic and elegance for travel. Head will also release Head Leather grip replacement..

I will have a chance to hit with my wife 2 hrs tomorrow morning and I am planning to use all three to test it...

Since the specs of Head SPEED PRO very very close to the spec of Head Prestige PRO, I tried to compare the 2 racquets..

and the overlay of both..

Can the HEAD SPEED PRO be cap with MG Prestige Pro? I tried that too.. I took me almost an hour tried many difference variation, cut the grommet out, stretch and etc.. Well.. these 2 are 2 difference mold and drilling. Even though the CAP grommet can fit in certain location but they are way too difference. The throat piece is the one the fit.. The rest is impossible to do the CAP so no.. You can' CAP it.. .. I will write some more after tomorrow morning hit.

Wow, it looks like you cast out a net and got a spanking good catch.

Did you not order these yourself, why wrong grip?

Anyway I'd like to hear waht you make of the 18 x 20 MP?

I play Radicals 18 x 20 so any comparison you can make is welcome - enjoy these great new racqs!

Well I did not order these but I would get most of the new stuff somehow and I requested gripsize 4 1/4.. but they send 4 1/2 and 4 3/8.. Some come strung with some kind of Head Sonic string.. and some comes unstrung..

Hey Jetlee, looking forward to your reviews!!!

One question if I may ask about these new Speed racquets, Jetlee. Do you think they are "true" 98 sq inch and 100 sq inch?

I mean, I have PC600s, and they are not really 93 sq inch, but around same size like a K90/KPS88. Same thing with PT630s, they are not really a true 98 square inch (compared with other brands' racquet head sizes, such as k-blade 98 or Becker 11, etc..) More like a K95. As I learned, this is because Head company measures their racquets in a different way, per past posts I read here.

Now is this the case with new Speed racquets? Are they actually smaller than 98sq/100sq OR you would say same size like other brands' racquets?

THANKS!

Since the overlay on the prestige shows the headsizes to be about the same, I would think the Pro is more 95sq in from my experience with the MGPP.

i don't get why they need to release the speed pro at all...

the other Speed MP's are closer to Djokovic's racket anyways -___-

From the look of it, the Speed Pro seems bigger and tend toward 100square inch.. It has rounder head shape than the MG Prestige Pro.. even though the overlay is about 98% match.. I think 2% is about +2 square inch difference..

yeah, HEAD marketing guys should be fired for this project IMO.. Create a new racquet line and Djokovic is not even using it? Speed Pro specs is almost identical to MG Prestige Specs except the leather grip. You put in leather grip on MG Prestige Pro specs which make it roughly about 335g unstrung.. But the Speed Pro has only 18mm beam.. that makes it difference I guess.

Thanks for the update and I'm really hoping that your post your impressions of these frames soon, you always seem to get the best stuff b4 anyone else LOL!

Ok so the Speed pro is like 2 inches bigger but that just makes a 95 sq in frame 97 or at best 98... still not a true 100.

Anyway, really hoping if it plays better than the MGPro cus I really liked the MGMP but hated the pro n hated the handle shape.

SPEED PRO is 98 square inch not 95. It's printed on the frame.. 98 square inch, 630cm square.. It looks slightly bigger than MG Prestige Pro.. I guess b/c of rounder shape..

Personally I would like to thank the HEAD marketing guys. I've been dying for a racquet with these specs. Thin beam, heft and widebody. This racquet is rock solid from everywhere in the court. A little tough to maneuver at the net but still a great hit. I held onto the demo for a week and really bonded quickly with it. Serve&Volley took the longest time to adjust but, I really look forward to making this my racquet. During the demo, I was pretty shocked at how much I liked the Sonic Pro string and at a much lower tension than what I normally play which is a multifilament (Tecnifibre NRG 16@60+lbs). I'm pretty sure it was my first time hitting with a polybased string but, I did love the spin and feel of the strings. Even though I was told by the storeowner it was a mediocre poly, I was impressed.

Thanks for the info, I had the MGPro and it was definately more a 95 compared to my KB98 and the other 100 sq in frames I had.

Anyway, really hope to hear more bout these frames :)

I'd also like to add that this frame can absolutely hammer flat serves yet still give you a nasty kick 2nd serve. Thin beam, heft, wide, 16x19, and polystrings are a very good blend of specs to deliver the goods on any type of serve you want to hit. An added bonus for me, I didn't need any lead to give me stability.

So you're demo Head PRO MP 16x19? I will try to hit all 3 today in half an hour or so.. I like heavy racquet and thin beam.. some how I shank alot more ball with big head size racquet.. let me see how I do with it this morning.. Yeah they are not cheap.. MSRP 225, retail probably $199.95.... man, I think the KPS88 is dirt cheap now.. about $140.. that's cheap...

No, I was demoing the Speed Pro for a week. I haven't tried the MP yet but, I already know I'm gunning to get the Speed Pro.

Yeh, I'll hold off a while buying the Head Speed pro for a while. $200 is a bit too much for a racquet. Especially when I'm playing OK with the RDS002 Tours (leaded up). I'd just rather not have to lead up a frame.

One would have thought Head would have learned from Wilson's experiment with the N90 and T90. If you are going to pretend that a certain racket was specifically made for a certain pro, at the very least have superficial similarities (string pattern, head shape, beam width). The fact that it is 16X19 and bares Novak's signature when he uses an 18X20 pattern is appalling. I don't think this line will do as well as expected, particularly the pro version.

Here is my brief reviews for the 3 Speed PRO, MP 18x20 & MP 16x19

SPEED PRO.. I play with straight up leather grip, Sonic pro string came with the racquet.. The first thing I would say WOOW.. I crushed the ball so hard with this one. My wife love hard hitting balls so I went for everything with this racquet.. I think I missed 2 or 3 forehand for half an hour baseline hitting with this SPEED PRO.. Great spin, good depth, good balance and feel. The Sonic Pro string is probably the one pull down the grade. It's an OK string but It does not have alot of power and spin like Luxilon or hybrid of it..

Speed PRO is great at the net, thin beam cut thru the air smoothly with nice stable weight.. I can pack some punching volleys hard & fast at the net but again the ball does not come as heavy as my KPS88 hybrid setup even though the sound it seems louder & harder punch..

Slice.. great slice.. thin knive cut the ball slow and smooth on both wings.. very very nice.

Backhand.. I have 1hbh and this racket seems suite more for 2handers. My back hand shot is ok but not as penetrate, power and spin as the forehand side.. It also feels alittle harder to move around compare to the KPS88.

Serve. nasty kicking serve and slice.. but for big fat hard serve KPS88 still a better one..

Overall.. SPEED PRO surprised me beyond my expectation. It has 98square inch headsize but it moves around like a 93square inch.. quick fast, stable good feel but not as good as the KPS88. I will give this racquet a 9/10 where as the KPS a 9.9/10.. GREAT player racquet..

SPEED PRO MP 18x20

I play test this one for 20 mins and then interchange back and forth with other speed pro.. It's good racquet but somehow I felt the string bed stiff and no feel.. This is 18x20 pattern so I would do a hybrid on it with lower tension to get some feel. This is stable racquet but not stable as the Speed PRO.. I use to play with heavy racquet so this one needs some lead to make it a good racquet.. Forehand still a big weapon with lots of control & spin... My 1hbh is not good for this one at all some how.. not enough power or control.. 2Hander is probably benefit more from this racquet than other.

Volley. Good racquet for volleys.. This racquet need a leather grip to make it Head light abit then the racquet would be a much better racquet..

.. Overall.. I give this racquet a 8/10.. This is a good customize racquet .. I would add some lead @3,9 and above the grip. It will be an excellent player racquet.

SPEED PRO MP 16x19. This is the least favorite out of 3. I can't find my range with this racket.. The ball flies everywhere with no control. The racquet seems shaky alittle bit more in ground strokes and in volleys.. This racquet needs some lead around 3,9, and handle to make it better.. Overall I gave it a 6.5/10.. not a good racquet IMO.

After 2hrs of hitting the crap out of the ball, SPEED PRO came out on top.. and the test string pop almost at the end. My wife played extremely well today to my surprise b/c I crushed the ball hard for everyshot.. She said the ball does not come as heavy and spin as with KPS88 hybrid so it gave her sometime to look at it and rip it back.

I probably keep 1 or 2 SPEED PRO for collection and put the rests for other guys who want it.. I might get 1 SPEED PRO with my right gripsize 4 1/4, Fairway leather grip, hybrid stringing and try it again to see the real comparison with the KPS88.. HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND>>!

thanks jetlee, do you think if the MP 18x20 had lead put on then it would be better than the pro?

I think it depends on the player preference. I play most of my life with thin beam, I doubt that It would be a better player racquet than the SPEED PRO.

SPEED PRO has nice balance setup as well as move around quickly .. 18x20 has 22mm beam width with 100square inch head.. it would make a nice player racquet after adding some lead at 3,9, handle but better than a HEAD PRO? I doubt it.

Your description of the SPEED PRO MP 16x19 was exactly my impressions when I tried out the MGPro too for some reason if they are very similar something is very wrong cus the racquet just plays weird.

Thanks again.

Just hit with the Speed Pro tonight....and Loved it!...I am selling my k88's now and buying more of these babies. I havent hit so many solid shots in my life. With the k90 and k88...I shanked a lot of forehands all the time and now with the Speed Pro, its so much better. I noticed the biggest difference on my groundstrokes compared to the k88 and k90. I got more depth and spin believe it or not. Didnt have a chance to do many volleys yet but serving was great as well..I look forward to hitting with it more and this could be my racquet of choice! :D

I just play with it again tonight in a double match..I started get the feel of the racquet.. Head Pro.. My serve get more pop with nasty kick and spin.. It's a great player racquet.. Any guys that play with KPS88, K90 and etc would love this racquet.. I had a few guys try out the Head Pro, Head Pro MP 16x19 and 18x20.. and most of them like the 18x20.. then the 16x19.. The Head Pro was the least one b/c alittle heavy.. oh well.. you got to try it first.. I think I am going to exchange one for grip 4 1/4 and the rest would let them go.. It's a good racquet but it's not beating the KPS88 .. I got more power, spin and pop of that KPS88 for now..

I like it, though id rather do a full job of big ace and ill do that next time. I have 3 sets left of black code so i might try a full job next time. Overall though, very satisfied in this frame!

bought SPEED MP 16X19 2 weeks before, for me it's a thin beam PD Roddick with better pj i like.
Serve - the head speed can be obviously faster than PDR for both slice and flat serve.
Groundstrock - with fast head speed and open string bed(16x19), this frame gives me stroke with powerful TOPSPIN. But also for the thin beam, it seams a little not stable in some passive situation when i stroke with not full preparation.
Volley - not tried, but seams to be not stable again. Need to prepare early I think.
Dropshot - this is nice.
