Chopin

Legend
It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's Chopin!

In the name of honour, and everything that these Boards strive to be, I bring you my latest thread for your posting and reading pleasure:

Picture this: two scrappy competitors competing against the backdrop of a city that never sleep. Hewitt versus Connors--US Open final.

Pound for pound, who do you think would triumph on the fast hard courts of the U.S. Open?

Personally, I'd take this guy every time:

Debate away, ladies and gentleman, for after a brief stay with the Historians in the "Former Pro Player" section, Chopin is back, a man of the people once more.

Best,
Chopin

Chopin, I thought you are........

The link doesn't work at all.

Anyway, Be Safe and Have fun.

Awesome. Got Juicy Hewitt in a scrappy 4 or 5 setter. He definately would not back down from Connors intimidation. He would have no problem hitting Connors flat shots.

Hello, my friend. How are you? You said Hewitt is a winner? I will say Connor is a winner:)

I will never forget watching that Connors match with my dad and my brother. We weren't even Connors fans but couldn't help but cheer the guy on.

I think if the setting was the US Open, night session, Connors should win in 5; imagine ole Jimbo stoking the crowd and working them into a frenzy; Lleyton hasn't got a chance :)
If however we move into the lawns of Wimbledon, I think Hewitt should take it in 5; both players' returns are equally good but Hewitt should just nip it here as he has the better serve of the 2

Hewitt does quite well in hostile environments, or when everyone is hating on him though.

Remember his 2001 US Open win was the scene of the James Blake racial remark incident. I dont think the crowd would have liked him beating up on Sampras a few days later.

He also defeated Guga on clay during his prime years in Brazil in front of a pretty verbal crowd. Also has come through some pretty fiesty run ins with numerous Argentinian players.

The hate only makes him stronger.

What is up with this obsession lately about Connors in night sessions at the U.S. Open?

He won other matches too, you know? Everyone's acting like he was only good during "night sessions" at the U.S. Open.

Simply put, Connors is one of the greatest of all time, not just at the U.S. Open. Hewitt is not one of the greatest of all time. I don't care if it's on grass. Greats find a way to win, and Jimbo would.

Pete's hand to face expression is priceless.

Two fighters. Hewitt must have watched a lot of old Connors video. He's a tough customer, but overall I think Connors had a bit more Game. There may be a whole lot of fist pumping, etc. out there, or would it be a "mutual admiration society" out there?

If someone with 14 slams could only get 8 games off Hewitt in a best of 5, then someone with only 8 slams would lose by a scoreline like 6-1 6-3 6-0.
