Hey what kind of poly strings do you guys use (regular tournament players)

ok I have been using Prince Nylon for awhile now hahaha and I've been doing pretty well but I'm definitely sure using another string would definitely help me......I'm looking for a softer poly maybe a co-poly that would hold tension and give spin....yeah lol

No poly is going to fare terribly well in the tension maintenance department.

My poly preference (of those I have tried) is as follows: (1a) Topspin Cyberflash; (1b) Signum Pro Poly Plasma; (3) Pro Supex Big Ace.

Try a few out and see what works best for you.

The more I play and the more situations I am in where I have to make a shot, even a routine shot, under pressure, the more "feel" has come into the equation.

I have been using Cyber Flash for over a year now and have gone through a reel. As a full string job, I have to say, it is about as numb feeling as they can get. Whether the string is new, a little used, or dead, the feedback is awful. A hybrid with PSGD or another crisp synthetic gut or multi can improve it, but its still not going to be great.

I had a Technifibre polyester in my current frame before switching over to my Cyber Flash and it was significantly better. I am gong to be be making the switch from Cyber Flash to a thinner gauge of something else. If I could justify the cost and the frequent res-stringing of Luxilon, I think I would still be using that.

With that said, I am playing in a tournament tomorrow night with a full string job of Cyber Flash.

yeah I actually played with Cyberflash before, but I really didn't like it. and I would have to agree with Brian....for so long I've been using stiff poly type string like Luxilon....and when I made a switch to a more softer string such as the (CHEAP $1.49 PRINCE NYLON) LOL I started playing better because the softer string elasticity helped me cup the ball better and the spin is still there...but now looking for something better to enhance my game....I guess I was really looking for more spin...but I'm still able to generate plenty of spin without a poly type string...so my conclusion now is to look for a cost effective string that would give me more feel and ball cupping, in which I can just use the strings for a single tournament...then practice all i can with that same string and restring when I have another tournament..... so I'll still test out some polys but I might look into softer multi synthetics for the feel....or hybrids..

thanks

and good luck at the tournament Bryan!

See the signature (BB ALU Rough 16L). I've also tried out Hurricane Tour and liked it, but the BB just plays better for me.

i use tecnifibre polyspin. only costs somewhere around $50 for a reel of 660', holds tension well, excellent to hybrid with which is all i need. have never strung up a stick with a full job of it, but i probably won't, my frames are pretty flexible and that doesn't seem like a good combo.

I have a tournament starting tomorrow and I've got some fresh Big Ace crossed with PSGD ready to go :D

try gosen polylon it's only 40 for a reel I hybrid it with syn gut. can't beat it for the price. I used to use pro hurricane 18 this ha more feel.

alu roughs.
i love them in my hybrids on the crosses
so far ive tested.

vs gut/alu roughs
livewire xp/ alu roughs
alu roughs/ vs gut 17gs
and soon kgut/alu roughs

if im low on strings ill use prince syn gut xD

Does it? I heard since a hybrid has more knots it loses it faster, but what do I know.

Then again, if you have gut or a multi in the hybrid it will stay tighter and may give the feel of a tighter string bed.

well stringing a hybrid isn't any different from stringing normally.....you still have to string two piece of string but the hybrid is two different strings.

I think I'm going to try using Big Hitter Blue~ poly strings on the main and something soft in the crosses......but I've been doing really well with full non-polys lol but i really want to have better spin.

I have tournament next Friday and I'll probably use my beloved Prince Nylon! :P

Man! I got a left wrist injury soley using Cyberflash....i was out for 5 months...I'm actually making a come back now...I just won a tournament and now I have another one coming up....but just contemplating on whether poly is even worth it....but isn't poly the future? lol i might even try full bed of some high playability strings...

gosh I really hate poly strings lol but I can't seem to head clear from it :P

I'm not a string breaker so I use a 17g multi as my mains and as thin a poly as I have around for the cross. Multifeel & Big Hitter, both in 1.20mm are in the stick I strung for this weeks league matches.

Downey, what does BB original play like? Im thinking of getting a few sets as i have never tried luxilon, but as i have Tennis elbow atm, i dont think it will be a good idea for now anyway

I like using Big Hitter, Big Ace, Cyberflash, or Blue Gear on my mains...then hybrid it with PSGD, Gosen OG Micro, Pro Supex Spiral Flex, or Prince Mulifilament

For you, I would say big ace. But if your looking for more spin, then go with blue gear.

Man I will most likely never use anytime of stiffstring....I am using a customized Nblade with Prince nylon....with a special pete sampras dampener and that has been the best setup for me so far....oddly enough cuz I've used the champions set up..ALU power full..but those were above average but poor in the price ranger...I think in the future I will use some better multi's and what not...but poly based strings are out for now....

I mean isn't tennis about being relaxed and hitting your strokes....the stiff string bed will cause most players to tighten up to get more spin or pace...

using a softer string at a firm tension allows me to stay relaxed and hit some power shots with spin and pace....plus the comfort allows me to play relentlessly...and about durablilty....I wouldn't want to use the same strings I did a few weeks ago...in another tournament.... i would restrings after every tournament...and the spin on poly is overhyped because you can get spin with the right technique and fluid motion in the swing...even when you dont use poly lol

anyways i'm ranting and just talking to myself lol
