Hi there, please critique our shots if you have a few minutes. Constructive criticism would be much appreciated.
Anyway, here are two videos of my friend "M" and I rallying at his club.
We've both been playing off and on for a number of years, but we are of course looking to improve, so any suggestions would be great.

Technical info for those interestede
M is using: Babolat (don't know which raquet exactly), sometimes Flexpoint Instinct MP, syn gut 16, eastern forehand, 1h bh
Me: Flexpoint Radical OS, Luxilon 16L mains, syn gut crosses, SW forehand,
2h bh

Sorry about the weird camera angle. Next time I'll bring the tripod.
I was inspired by the video someone else posted that had a compilation of all of the bad shots at the end, so I did the same--it's at the end of my vid. Enjoy. :)

buy longer shorts! haha just kidding

looks like you're playing with a REALLY light racket. your shots are wristy. use more shoulder on your forehand and BEND your legs! don't forget to split step even during practice rallies.

Well it definitely looks like you're better than "M"... this being said, your backhand looks almost like a baseball swing. If I had to guess, I would say that you don't get much topspin on your backhand. Forehand looks pretty nice, although I agree with metsjets that more shoulder/upper body rotation would be good.

Thanks for posting your vid!

What level is your game ? 3.5/4.0/4.5?

Yeah Your backhand does look like a baseball bat. Try bend your knee more and getting under the ball for both your forehand and backhand. This will help you get better topspin, depth, and power. The fat kid(sorry) need to bend his knee. He just using his wrist, and that will cause wrist problem in due time.

"M"
It looks like M is arming the ball on his forehand. He has practically no rotation and it doesn't seem liek he's putting any of his weight into the shot...too passive.

Tell him to followthrough and take back more on the forehand. It seems like his swing is less than half a metre.

Better footwork will enable him to not get in the way of his own stroke, his lack of rotation is causing his body to interfere with the swingpath of his forehand, maybe that's why it's so short.

His hit one or two backhands that were pretty nice.

YOU
You have a pretty sweet backhand, nice rotation, you can flatten it out...

Your forehand is clearly better than M's. One thing you can maybe work on, is to lean forward into your forehand more. And for some reason your forehand looks a bit awkward when you get a high ball, but that's purely aesthetic.(I'm not talking about the volley)

Your footwork is ok too.

Try to use split step.
Close your shoulder on forehand, easy way to do is make sure that your left shoulder touches your chin on take back.
You need to bend your legs.
Take your left hand with your racquet as you take your racquet back. Your left hand is just haning.

you see how Roddick's left hand is with the racquet?

Thanks so much everyone for the comments, they are much appreciated. :)

We both know that we each have a lot to work on so I will definitely take these suggestions into account. Hopefully I'll put another video up in a week or two.
