High ball rally

After the set we did a rally with focus on huge net clearance. That was fun. Longer rallies. Once high arc is locked into your mind, you can really focus on trying to generate more spin without trying to drive the ball so much. Just high and deep, like a topspin lob almost, less effort than trying to kill it. The high deep ball is hard for him to attack anyway

One of my regular practice partners his high heavy spin balls, so I am always varying between practicing to take the ball early before the bounce, timing the bounce to hit an earlier mid ball, or taking the ball and driving it at or above the shoulder. That latter, above the shoulder stuff though, make for a LOT of soreness the next day if I do too much, but is great practice. And yeah, if players can't take the ball early, those high balls push them back and you might get more of a defensive or neutral ball back often enough. Love mixing them in myself.

Especially good if you know who to use the WW shots for Shape Fades on the high contact point from Congruent Tennis!

If you liked that, try drawing a line 3 feet behind the baseline for you and your partner.
Stand behind the line and rally.
The objective is to not have to move in front of that line to maintain the rally.

Teaches you to hit good topspin rally balls that will land deep and push your opponent back.
