Hey, this is an assignment I'm doing for school, and I was wondering what you guys think. For those of you who have already graduated from high school, do you think life is better after high school or during high school? Please state why you feel the way you do. Thanks!

Hi, I am in college now.

When I was in high school I thought that life after high school in college would be much better.

But I actually miss my high school days.... I miss the rumors and gossip spreading through the halls, going to tennis practice after class, getting out early on thursdays....

Where do you go to college?

I haven't experinced American college yet (doing my freshman year abroad) but I do sometimes reminisce about my senior year of high school, a time where I could (and did!) get by without doing anything at all. I partied pretty hard and had a lot of fun.

Anyone who says high school was better, after having left, hasn't spent enough time away from it or hasn't grown up.

Cheers

High school was fun, you could screw around all day and still make good grades. College is hard work, but it is much better as you feel like you are actually working towards an end rather than sitting in a classroom all day wasting your time.

As a current college student I would never want to go back to high school. I would not trade its ease for the freedom you get when you are out. As challenging as college is from all aspects, I cant see why anyone would trade it. Unless they were a huge loser that peaked in high school.

Don't get me wrong, I miss my friends, but it just makes the time i get to spend with them sweeter (for example Christmas, thanksgiving, spring break.) But as for high school life goes, the drama and the sitting there 7 straight hours only doing 15 minutes of actual work, they can keep it.

I think life peaks around kindergarten (who doesn't love nap time?) and just goes downhill from there. Nothing like those carefree days where you have no pressure and just run around and play all day...

Besides being poor, college life was great! Being a young single guy working in the real world was even better since I was slightly less poor.

HS sucked for me for the most part. I actually ended going to four different High Schools. We moved almost every year and the one year we didn't move, they re-drew the district lines so I got moved to another school. Did I also mention that there were times that my mom taught at the same HS?

I loved high school, had great friends who I still see and a great education too. Had a ball. But I have to say in my first year out I enjoy the freedom of no high school and I have definitely grown confidence-wise a lot. I think it will just keep getting better.

I'm in high school and I hate it. Everyone is spoiled, rich, rude, punkish and selfish. Getting a 4.0 GPA also adds up to that and makes it worse. When I gruduate, I'm gonna buy my high school and demolish it personally.

And to think about it, when you graduate you'll be going on to college, which is full of ex-Highschoolers, which should still be spoiled, rich, rude, punkish and selfish. AmiRight?

well, i think that there are ups and downs to both. i personally chose life during high school cuz i guess i miss those days. life after high school is great in that you get much more freedom but there is also much more stress and you have to really think about what u wanna do with the rest of your life, which im personally not sure about. so i guess i miss the carefree days of high school. another reason i like high school is because everyone knows everyone which is kinda cool.

College was far superior to HS. More freedom, scheduling classes so that I had nothing after noon on Fridays, etc. I wish I'd have had 1 more year of college.

One of my daughters is in Kindergarten right now. No nap time and she has homework everyday:)

In this sense, yes, college is far superior to high school, which was practically intolerable in these respects. I was thinking more generally of life at 16 or 17 being better than life at 30 or 40 and so on.

Thankfully, I'm still on the friendlier side of 30. ;)

Actually, that being said, I think that I'm turning a corner into the "best years of my life" right now - I've got a solid career, I'm getting into the best shape of my life, I'm not broke like a college student anymore....it's all uphill from here (well, until 35 or so).

We can simplify all this right now: The younger you are, the better!

Perhaps an analogy is in order. High school is playing mini-tennis on your local court with your little sister and a Kmart racquet. After high school is Wimbledon.

I feel kind of sad for people whose glory days were in high school. The picture of Al Bundy comes to mind :)

Actually, try this: High school/college years is Wimbledon. After is senior circuit events in front of small crowds.

It'd be tremendously sad if that brief window of four years or so in the teens was the apex of a life that could last well past 70.

I personally think it should be everyone's goal to continue to learn and grow and strive to be happy and productive in life. If we are succeeding at this, then each year should be an improvement on the previous one. Of course, there are ups and downs along the way: fallout from bad decisions, bad relationships, or just plain bad luck. However, I'd argue that if the immature charms of High School amount to the best part of one's life, (s)he isn't trying hard enough beyond it.

Maturity is a good thing. Wisdom that comes with experience is a very good thing. Hard work and responsibility are also very good things - they produce character, and character brings substance to one's life.

No. I'm 36. Life has never been better. After college to 30 was okay, but things are going way better for me now. In your twenties, you're still a kid. If you're saying life after college is just old people doing old things, you're way off.

Your the exception that proves the rule.

The other day I was trying to decide what is the single best age of all for a person, and I settled on 21. You are now legally allowed to do anything, but you are young and healthy and dating 20 year olds and you have your whole future ahead of you.

I'm going with 25 (not only because I'm 25) - most people at 25 have at least a somewhat stable career, you can legally go bar hopping, you can go bar hopping without looking like an old person trying too hard, you aren't usually struggling for money like in college - it's OK at 25. :)

Oh, no doubt 25 is swell too.

I would say it is better now. I loved school - I had my friends, my boyfriend, my part-time jobs, my socializing. The biggest stress was an exam. Now I have major responsibilities, a serious career, financial strain - but, I also have fun, do what I like when I like, and appreciate the life lessons and experiences along the way. Now, I choose to share my wisdom and wit with the world via this forum.

The other day I was trying to decide what is the single best age of all for a person....

After careful analysis, I have proven that it is for sure 27 years, 5 months, 2 weeks, 22 hours, 16 minutes, and 9 seconds. That is THE single best age.

Close second was 25 years, 7 months, 3 weeks, 23 hours, 2 minutes, and 32 seconds.

I can believe it. Different methodology can produce different results, but the data from both of our studies has provided pretty similar results, somewhere in the 20's. It's not like someone came up with "2 1/2" or "63.8".

both have their pros and cons. i was pretty free in high school and didn't have my parents telling me what to do much. played three sports and had a great time. had a car and didn't have to pay for insurance OR gas. only had a job when i wanted one. but the classes were pretty much a joke. i had a great time though.

college is also great. i have to work part time and pay bills now, but with total freedom comes responsibility. i don't mind it at all and enjoy making my own money and spending it as i like. the classes in college are a better too (even though some are still pretty weak which surprised me).

High school felt so bad to me overall, I took 8 months off to shake it off. My mother had to convince me to try college, I was that jaded. Thank goodnes, I loved college. High school was cool my freshman and senior year. The middle years was extreme lack of direction and partying myself away. Man, the bus was the worst thing in the world to me. Three people to a seat, and the rest sat on the floor. I was late to get on the bus home one day, and had to climb over people to get to a spot on the floor. Besides, maybe, some cheap feels, I don't feel like I missed much of that year. If I had to endure that again I would take a shot gun to my head. High school was ok, I think, but college gave you more confidence, and people were more mature (all the thieves and losers were weeded out).
