Highlights from a tennismatch

I really like the way that Andreson plays. Beautifully controlled game, carefully constructing each point, and very elegent backhand. He uses the racquet like a wand. And he's not even playing anything close to 100%.

Both players are sehr gut (very good). Very high levels. Anderson doesn't "look" like a typical high level player but he plays very smart, smoothly and you can tell he really knows the game and how to work the court dimensions (sneaky good).

Definitely at least 3.5 on TT.

wow nice match. those guys are darn good! and goodness those defensive slices were incredible. once past 5.0 ratings in my opinion are immaterial and these guys are past 5.0.

Don`t know about Olsen, but I know Andresen played for Stetson University, FL 97-01.

For those of you that don`t understand norwegian:) This was the final from the norwegian national championchip indoor 2011 35-39 years.

Clearly above 5.0 and also interesting was the depth of their shots. It was clear that they played the shorter angles w/ powerful, heavy groundstrokes. The angles weren't massive but they definitely moved each other around. The guy w/ the 1HBH had a better day than the guy w/ the 2HBH. Whether that was caused by timing, power, some other outside force, we won't know but it was a good watch and it told me something i should've already known:

Stop taking advice from people who don't know my game!

Andresen looks like he has a whale of serve and forehand, but once the point started, Olsen seemed to dominate on the backhand-side rallies and with better conditioning.

I'd say 5.0..good consistency and all around, but not as amazing as Div I college players or pros. The camera angle also made the tennis look slower..so that could be part of the reason.

Since we can't know for sure because 3.5s and 7.0s are so similar I can't rate

definately above 5.0, but can't exactly say what it would be past that range. Think about 5.5, but not entirely sure.

I would say that the one handed guy did have DivI level at some point (he is 35 now). but not pro level.

Ignoring all that's been said about them so far in this thread about their past, they are obviously 4.5+, we just don't know their tourney/past results to rate them any higher. In my honest opinion, if they were playing for fun and didn't care about the result, they would easily be an upper 5.0 / lower 5.5. If they took it seriously, easily in the strong 5.5 range (especially with that footwork and shot-selection).

Is it weird that this is more fun to watch than many professional matches?

Either guy will kick my butt, but watching this gives something that I could relate to, (as in, what if I am on the court)...

Watching pro matches never gives that thought.

Pro matches can be related to, easy. If I were on the court with Djokovic, I would be messing myself before I even got a chance to hit the strings, let alone the sweet spot.

Couple of baseliner 5.5+'s for sure, but boy, do they lack forecourt knowledge and strategy. If they had it, they'd play at 6.0 futures and Q levels easily....but neither does.

^ Lee, that's crazy. These guys wouldn't be ranked in top 200 of So Cal Men's Opens, let alone be able to play futures. It's not just how they use it, their movement and hitting isn't nowhere near that level.

5.0? In the states. They look good.

^ Put on some protective gear like a hockey goalie when I'm serving then... my serve is terrible. But my forehand return on the deuce side is good. I would definitely like our chances against them, especially with that serve and volleys of yours.

GC - watched your vid. looks like you could be Brent Abel by your stature and strokes.

Not unless Mr. Abel is a 41 year old desk jockey self taught weekend warrior that didn't play juniors?

Sounds like it might be a fun match though. Where does he play?

He was last years (i believe) 60 and over national champion. He looks about 45, and is a VERY good player.

Without even watching the video and not understanding the language, I assumed it was a 35 and over championship and so guessed the guys at 5.5. Might not have been a bad guess.

Too good, too solid....I am guessing those guys are either under 35? I dunno what language the title is in, these guys play like retired pro's.....very good movement and consistency....they know how to work a point and know when to attack or go for a winner....thanks for posting the vid.
