Hingis is down 3-0 in the first set. Dont worry swiss miss, I am your personal jesus and only a phone call away. lift up the receiver.... i will comfort you even if you lose. I only hope you wont mind if I bring julia stiles along too...

clisjters playing the best i've ever seen her play. hingis had a lot of leads though. she may be able to sneak back in the match.

henin, mauresmo, etc. all picking clisjters. wouldn't it be funny if hingis won and showed them the modern power game aint ****.

Now tied at 1 set all. The player with the better fitness and grit will win this match.

I can't pick. :(

Hingis' "what can I do" face

I guess this is it. She had a marvelous run here at the AO and I hope she only continues to get better in the next tournaments. :(

down a break in the 3rd. Just as the commentator pointed out, Hingis can't win this match with her defense game alone.

3-5 Hingis serving. match's still not over yet, noelle.

Great run by Hingis. It proves that she can hang in there somehow (okay, some will say that Clijsters is injured), but hey, Hingis isn't a slouch either.

I wished she could go further, but I've enjoyed the tennis she displayed, in anotherwise power-mongering-baseline-bashing WTA er... AO.

It's 4-5 Hingis. I'm waiting with bated breath. If she could turn this around somehow....

Game, set, match Clijsters. :( I think the Hingis errors accounted for all four points in that last game.

shabby you are averaging 35 posts a day. :\
because I'm talking to myself in those spoiler threads ;) and it will change soon, cause my holidays ends this WE :(

Hingis was bothered because an incompetent lineswoman in the 3rd set. Anyway credit to Clijsters but I'm sure Martina will bounce back in the top 10 this year. :D

I thought Kimmie eased up a bit at the end of the first set and that let Martina get some belief going. Then in the second set, Kimmie started making all those errors, which pumped Martina even more.

I don't think Martina will get as easy a time from now on from the power players. Kimmie was a bit too nice really.

I certainly give Hingis credit -- didn't mean not to. She showed the steely focus that has been a trademark of hers and she definitely played her way into the match after a drubbing in the first set. No sign of panic at all, that I could see.

She's the fittest any of us have ever seen her. I admire how she's approached this comeback, with intelligence and dedication. She played like a champion.

The power game is the power game, though, and she will have problems against the biggest hitters.

I think she is facing the same problems she was when she retired - having to matchup with hard hitting opponents. It was only when I saw Clijsters play Hingis did I realise how much power she packs in her forehands. When she plays Davenport and the Williams, the shotmaking from both sides is pretty fast so its hard to notice but with Hingis, it was very evident.

But with some work on her puny body, Hingis can rise to the top again. If I had it my way, I'd say she is cute as hell and should not try to change her body but thats what she needs to sacrifice for the game....

Could have gone either way. I REALLY hope Hingis can improve her service game. If she could do that, she'll be back in the top 5. Her service motion could be improved quite a bit. A bigger serve would allow her to volley more, and she has the best volley in the woman's game. Before the Clijsters match, I hadn't seen her miss a volley all tournament.

Anyway, I'm glad Hingis is back. Makes the women's game more interesting and gives me someone to root for.
