Hip Hop vs Pioneer DC Plus

I was going to get the Alpha pioneer DC Plus but then I saw the Sp Hip Hop. The Hip Hop has the better mounting system so I am leaning toward the Hip Hop now. The DC Plus has better clamps. I know alpha has good costumer service but does SP have good service.
1) The Hip Hop's mounting system is better right?
2) Do the clamps on the DC Plus just save time or are they better in other ways also?
3) If you have experience with SP's costumer Service can you share your experiences.
4) Is there a difference in build quality between the two
5) What is the difference between rotational gripper and linear gripper for a dropweight.
6) Is the DC Plus worth the extra 50 bucks.

The silent partner customer service is great. No problems there.

Here, I would spend the extra 50 bucks for the clamps and gripper.

Most people like the linear gripper better, so it would be like 20 bucks for the gripper, 30 for the clamp bases.

Though the mounting on the Hip hop is tempting, if you're getting a dropweight, the time taken for mounting is negligible because you're not doing that many racquets anyways.

^^^ I dont care if it takes 5 hours I just want me racquet to be strung at the end at a consistent tension and the racquet to be the same shape as it started as. Is the mounting system on the Hip Hop more secure than the alpha?

Actually I dont want it to take 5 hours but 2 hours is OK.

With practice, it will be less than an hour.

Both mounting systems are 6 point mounting systems.

The difference is this:

A self centering mounting system (SP Hip hop, SP crump, etc) has both side supports tightened by one knob. They move together.

A regular, independent 6 point mounting system (Alpha Pioneer dc plus, revo) requires each side support to be tightened individually.

The self centering is better because both side supports are tightened the same amount as each other. It's more consistent.

The independent 6 point mounting just requires you to not overtighten one more than the other. Try to keep it as similar as possible.

In the end, both are just as secure. I'd get the self centering if you're stringing many racquets at a time and need those extra few minutes per racquet, but that doesn't seem to be your case, or is it?

Also, Alpha machines come with an instructional dvd by YULitle (I think they all do).

I myself am starting to lean towards a Revo over a SP crump because of the clamp bases and reputation. It just hurts my patience having to save up an extra $100 :(

Just 5 more stringjobs for other people if you want but manswerez definetly look into the combo 910. It's a revo with a stand and a disk brake lock. I would think that would be better than spending 50 extra dollars on something that is not as good? Get what I'm saying? :)

NP.. Don't worry about customer service. It was great for the last 2 people who bought of this forum. One was me so I can vouch. I know I was like this too. I kept switching from gamma x-2 to eag-300 and flex 940. It was crazy but I thought it was all worth it. How much do you have saved up so far?

thanks Mansewerz
Does everyone agree that the Alpha mounting system is just as good as the SP's

Like 50 bucks! LOL, I made that this week in stringing. First time, i've had real customers other than one early in the summer. My stringing has gotten faster.

I'm gonna save any holiday and birthday money I get (b-day is December 31st)
