It's not like Sock being absent is a big deal given how hes been playing most of the year. Johnson and Tiafoe are both playing much better lately. I'm wondering if Sock was left off because of the fact hes lost more often than won lately and it's on clay to boot.

Isner not being there is a blow for the USA but he clearly has his priorities straight because his wife is about to give birth to their child.

Sock still should've played doubles if he could. Though he's apparently injured at the moment.

Sock was supposed to play Doubles with Bryan,, they are the BEST team in the world right now. maybe Sock wanted to concentrate on Laver cup ?? since it is so important now, more important than Davis cup now ?

It is reported that Sock sustained a hip injury during the doubles final at US Open. However, he will likely be in Chicago for Laver Cup.

Pouille is France #1; despite higher rankings, neither Gasquet or Simon compaires with Benoit's nonpaireil serve/backhand combo and it showed as he had unpairelleled success today vs Busta. @Red Rick

I totally forgot he was playing doubles with Bryan...talk about a stupid moment. And they just won as well.....ugh. nevermind I take it back if he was healthy he definitely should have been fielded for Dubs.

Totally forgot about doubles...I am so used to the Bryans as a unit its just a go to, but yes they have been such a good doubles team. Least Sock is doing something somewhere haha. Pity he is injured though
 
USA takes the dubs after squandering a two-set lead to win a decisive TB in the fifth. A lot of people overlook Harrison's dubs skills...he won RG'17.

Johnson can extend the tie vs Cilic on Sunday.
 
I'll be surprised if the USA pulls of this comeback. I dont know if Johnson can beat Cilic. Cilic has had a very good year, although Johnson has been hot lately.

Close ?? that's it ? I can go read the score in the newspaper and tell you it was close. I meant tactically why did Bryan and Harrison win and not dodig and pavic ?
 
I know Davis cup is changing. But somehow with the format doubles is just so much better to watch in Davis cup. Its just the pinnacle of doubles. So fun to watch in both Davis and Fed cup.

Why are you bullying @stringertom ? Why does he "owe" you more comments and explanation about the match?
Why didn't you watch the match and contribute your thoughts rather that demeaning another poster for not answering your every question?
I didn't comment on the match. Do you want to criticize me as well?
 
Huge choke by Cilic was up by 6-1 in second tiebreaker after winning first set and still lost the set and the match.
 
What a comeback coming back from 1-5 in the set to winning tie break 13-11 for Tiafoe. Epic choke by Coric in the set to lose 2 breaks
