Hitting deep forehands?

I've been having problems hitting forehands that are deep. most of my forehands land just after the service line, when i hit from the baseline.

i have already been doing full swing and applying topspin, and i hit with lots of strength. the ball moves rather fast, but the thing is it doesn't travel that far.

how do i hit forehands that are deeper?

i am using a PK ki5 at 55 lbs.

they are rather close above the net though. but when i try to give more clearance it goes a little deeper but its much slower and i guess it would be a moonball then.

i am already extending fully. however, one thing i notice is that i usually swing with the ball rather in front of me, my timing is usually a little off in that sense.

another question, sometimes when i am a little inside the baseline, and my opponent hits a shot right on the baseline, i often have trouble hitting a proper forehand and following through after running back. if i do a follow through, sometime i can feel that my arm is being restricted, as in, maybe because my torso rotation is not full. how do i remedy that as well?

thanks a lot!

that is what I thought. clearly, you need to increase your clearance if you hope to get it deeper. just because you clear the net by 4-5 ft does not make your shot a moonball. rafa's shots are extremely effective and they clear the net with ample room.

without a video its hard to say. i suspect there is more than just the extension that is a little off here. it's one thing to extend fully, but if your timing and shoulder turn are off, your shots can lose depth.

hmm yeah, but i don't have a private tennis court or something so i think it would attract stares if i go take a video.

but what are the general tips to hitting a deeper forehand?

Just bring a small camcorder or use the cam in your phone, it'll at least show us what your shots are like.

When I hit deep FH shot...
I finished the stroke with racquet over arm instead of over the shoulder.
Do not focus on maximum spin if net clearance is low unless the ball went too long.
Keep body torso straight, do not lean forward or backward.
Time the shot with hip rotation to increase drive power.

perhaps you need to be lower to the ground and bend your knees more

are all your forehands with topspin?? i would suggest practicing loopers from the basline.. set up a cone or something on both corners and aim for them

also, how are your approach shots?? are they short as well?? if so, practice hitting the ball flat on approach shots and try to incorporate them from the baselines

hmm ok i'll try it again tomorrow when i play.

my approach shots however mostly hit the baseline and i am usually able to force an error on it. it is when i'm rallying from the baseline that is the problem
