hitting low on the face

I actually had a similar thought, not knowing something like that already exists.

so with a regular racket hitting low - closer to the trailing edge is legit.

this is somewhat similar to the offset on a golf club.

Whatever you hit off-center, goes out with less than optimal pace and an undesired launch angle. Hitting of center on purpose can only be done close to the sweetspot where the outcomes are reduced, or by risking to increase the % of hitting the frame and losing punch in every shot.

A racquet shaped like that can bring other benefits though. The axis of minium inertia are shifted and can enhance some mechanical aspects of the swing that are beneficial for the game. To what extent I don't know.

less than optimal - it's true for old school fh and fake ww fh's... with real ww and delayed opening it's more than compensated with:

- extra 2 inches of acceleration;
- late supination to open the face so the trailing edge goes towards the ball faster than the rest of the racket.

the academy uses this concept for students to self-assess. if the swing feels 'reluctant' to hit near the trailing edge then it's fake.

no shanking risk. this is done on neutral/offense for more RHS. on defence we use the center.

the Snauwert was ahead of its time.. ww doesn't have much benefit with gut/nylon in the 80's. there should be more visible benefits today with the polys.
