Hopman Cup officially out of Perth, looking for new home

It's official

I know this has been known for awhile now, but the ATP Cup is officially moving into Perth, and Hopman Cup is gone.
The tournament has received interest from other cities around the world, so hopefully it will not skip a beat in 2020.

Hopman Cup is personally my favorite event of the year. There is a perfect blend of competition and lighthearted exhibition tennis, and the mixed doubles is always such a blast.

Cheers to 31 years, Hopman Cup.

p.s. the ATP Cup sounds lame.

Did Perth HAVE to get rid of the Hopman Cup just to make way for this new ATP event? Surely it was THEIR choice what to do?

Perth and the Hopman Cup really got ****ed over here. Each year the tournament was breaking attendance records and this year saw a first time meeting between Serena v Fed which drew immense media attention but yeah, good job.
A lot of the recent growth was probably due to Federer and they knew it. So it may not have been sustainable.

how about in SanDiego or LA ? BEST cities for this kind of entertaining tennis

Yes Federer is amazing and incredible but putting everything down to him doesn't do the event justice.

The event bragged multiple slam champions and delivered great matches whether it was Germany v Switzerland which had the like of Zverev and multi slam champ Kerber v Federer and Bencic or Spain v Australia with rising talent Ash Barty v slam champ Muguruza.

It had the brilliant mix of some of the best players from both tours. Now just the men's tour. It boasted interest in mixed doubles which is incredibly underrated.
