Hot Take: Djokovic will win Shanghai Masters!

With US Open coming to an end!

It's better to put your opinions forward about Shanghai Masters 1000, who do you take as your potential champion.

Since Djokovic is competing after a long time in this tournament and he has not won a master's 1000 this year, he will surely be motivated to grab this one.

Is he even going to play there? Might as well take the rest of the year off and give it one final go in 2025. I guess he needs to protect his ranking for slam seeding and draws.

Nah

We thought the same in IW but he lost in second match

This is some of the lower times of his life. Now we should look towards 2025.

The only 2 reasons he could even think to take a crack at it is if 1) He cares about going for the YEC (he's #9 in the race now) or 2) He wants to accumulate points to have an alright seeding in the later Slams of 2025 too, as he's unlikely to keep his AO Semi Points

He has always enjoyed playing in China where he has always been very popular so it's possible he might decide to play there.

No Alcaraz is winning that.
Last year Sinner was fresh after US Open early exit
Now the opposite will happen with Alcaraz

Djokovic in the tournament already took this event up several notches. He is Shanghai GOAT, the best China has ever seen.

Will be interesting to see how he looks. I don't think he cares about Masters anymore... but but but, it's Shanghaï. One of the main reason why he is playing Shanghaï is for his fans. He has a massive fanbase in China. Shanghaï is historically a good Masters for him, he won it 4 times in 9 attempts (+ the WTF in 2008). And he also needs some points if he doesn't want to fall out of the Top-8 for the AO. He's gonna lose 2300 if he skips Bercy/Turin.

He was looking okay in his Davis Cup match... though his opponent was ranked #750. But he won 6-0 6-1 in 40 minutes and his serve was better than at the USO. Let's see. Sinner/Medvedev/Alcaraz are all on the opposite half. I hope he can win a few matches at least. I'll be disappointed if he treats Shanghaï like he did IW, but it is what it is. He won what he wanted to win this year. He won the Slam race. He has nothing left to prove. It wouldn't shock me if he loses to Bu or Wawrinka in the opening round.

yeah he is there to meet his fans after 5 years, and many people think this will be the last time he ever plays in Shanghai.

Djokovic probably will be serious only in 2025. I have zero trust in him now. In rest of 2024.

2024 is gone.

Going by what djokovic played yesterday it is easily seen that his speed on the court has gone . Alcaraz and sinner are youngerand faster. If miracle happens then only DJOKOVIC can win

True, but it was also his first match back in a while, there was rust and he was mistiming a lot of things.
