How’s everyone feeling about Wilson apparel?

I didn’t see any obvious threads about Wilson’s apparel, but I’ve been pretty impressed with their stuff over the last year or so. I’ve found Nike shorts in particular to have some issues with durability/build quality and so moved to Lulu, but then trying the Wilson shorts I think I’ve found some new favorites. They’re pretty light but without feeling cheap like a lot of the newer Nike shorts. My wife has some of their women’s apparel as well and prefers it over the Nike/adidas stuff she was using before.

Not sold on their shoes yet, and their prices are pretty steep. Some of the stuff is definitely not performance-oriented and is going for the country club vibe, but I’m referring to their performance lines. For me at least, they seem to be on-part with lulu and that’s huge in a world where Nike’s been (unfortunately) disappointing me in their apparel

Wilson makes some surprisingly great shoes, the Rush pro checks all the boxes unless you need a fancy logo. Sturdy, light enough, comfortable and good grip etc. and all things being equal reasonably priced. There are a lot of great shoes being sold nowadays though, so the competition is high.

I've been eyeing Wilsons clothes for a few months now and when I visited Chicago I made sure to stop by the store. I tried on a few pieces and loved them, the fit and material were top notch. I have a discount so ended up buying a few pieces online which should be arriving today. The ones below I purchased, felt amazing in person and again, fit even better.

FYI, I live in South Florida so I need thin/light material but doesn't stick to the body when I sweat. For instance, I LOVE the Nike Advantage (non-slam) clothing.

These are the pieces I bought:

Tournament V2 Short Unlined in Red

Game Point Seamless Polo in Green and Poseidon:

Serve Out Tee in Red

Wilson is definitely a sleeper when it comes to clothing IMO, they put out some great looking pieces in great colors (especially that iconic Wilson Red).

Their new stuff is really nice.
Feels premium and like it is decent quality
I have the 7" and 5" tournament pro short, bought discount colors $39.
I really like them. Length is good and the colors are nice.
I'd probably fully convert if I didn't have a whole bunch of other shorts that are still in good shape.

Nice! Yeah, shorts are one where as long as I have a color, I'm not converting. It's the tops that put a dent in my wallet lol.

I'm looking forward to see how these will hold up over time and excited to see its performance on court in the heat & humidity.

Yep, definitely report back.
I'm in Tampa, so similar conditions to you and I have some tops that get waterlogged in the summer despite being "dri-fit" and whatever adidas calls their polyester shirts.

I have been buying Wilson for several months now. Tournament Pro 5' and Volley 6' shorts are some of my favorites. Have a few polos and tees, all same quality, very high.
I would have more if Wilson wasn't so political with their flag like markings on clothes and shoes. I own nothing Nike like many other people because of their political activism.
Companies need to stop with their activism, it drives away customers, doesn't attract them.

Glad to hear you've had good experiences with Wilson.

I'm not fully aware of Wilsons "flag like markings", can you please elaborate? If possible. I don't hear much from the company itself, obviously pretty hard to make as much as noise as Adidas or Nike.

I personally don't consider the activism when I purchase clothes, I just need something that fits well and performs better. That's most important to me as I want to be as comfortable as possible when playing or wearing clothes.

My experience is that they have always made good quality racquets, apparel, and shoes. I have never been disappointed with any of their merch. It is nice that their shoes are underrated, to me. The prices are not through the roof and are good quality, comfortable, and are a very reasonable level of durability.

My experience is not good. The shorts I bought lasted only 2 months. They were their top model at the time. Also, the pockets were not deep enough. Occasionally a ball would slip out during a serve.

Oh no, yeah hopefully I don't have that same experience. Again, I just tried mine on in store and loved the fit and feel, hopefully it performs just as well on the court. The ball slipping out on serves or moving is extremely annoying.

I have been looking at their shoes, not a HUGE fan of the design but I hear they're extremely comfortable. You're right about the prices, excellent price point when it comes to tennis shoes.

Received my order, unfortunately a couple of the pieces didn’t work out.

The Tournament V2 Short 5” was too tight on my thighs (large Asian squat legs), and the green Game Point Seamless Polo was a tiny bit too tight for my liking. Weird because the Poseidon colorway in the same size fit PERFECT so I’ll be keeping that and my SO loved it on me.

Wilson definitely has a more classic look to their apparel and are more of a slim fit but not Adidas slim (skinny mind you), but the quality is very nice just from feel, unfortunately the consistency in sizing isn’t there.

Also the Game Point Seamless Polo and I’m guessing their tee is a major competitor to the Nike Advantage (non-slam) line. It’s thin, breathable, and mesh like with all the holes, exactly what I’m looking for for hot & humid south Florida. I’ll try it once I hit the court next time and update on performance.

If all goes well, I’ll be buying more Game Poijt Seamless Polo’s and also adding the tee’s. I’ll give it another try for sizing and if it doesn’t work out that’ll be it for Wilson for me.

Shorts wise I’ll stick with the Nike Court Advantage 6”, won’t even try the other Wilson offerings.

Wilson’s tennis attire and shoes have been looking more aesthetically appealing of late, but to me they continue to resonate primarily as gear that pros who are paid to use Wilson racquets wear when they’re out of dedicated apparel sponsors.

LOL that's quite funny and probably very true. Luckily I'm not a pro nor does a pro influence my purchases and am just on the hunt for good looking thin and breathable apparel which can withstand high heat and humidity/lots of sweat.

I have noticed this as well. Otto Virtanen for example is one of their "flagship pro's" and he's outside the top100 these days. Even Yonex is pulling more popular pro's to their apparel line and they don't even sell that much apparel outside the APAC region. :D

Yeah, I certainly hope to see more Wilson apparel on tour, they make some great/unique looking pieces and like I said, their quality/performance seems like it'd be very good. I guess they've just focused so much on racquets/balls they've never really needed to get into that apparel. Wilson has a great classic look which I think would look great on a lot of pro's.

The sizing is all over the place, so plan for multiple returns/exchanges until you figure it out. Their stuff looks really great on TV, especially on the women's side.

Yeah, as I stated above for the polo one of the larges fit a tad bit smaller than the other one. Ended up returning, if I do buy another piece I'll probably go up a size as those measurements seem to be a bit better/more forgiving for me.

I agree 100%. I have a few pair of the Wilson 5” volley shorts. Being of average height, I love that they don’t wear like basketball shorts. The pockets are perfect for tennis as well, old school in their cut.
I also started wearing the Rush Pro Axe shoe. Previously I had worn the Rush Pro. The Ace is nice, roomy and comfortable.
