How are Fila shoes in general ?

I've never tried Fila Shoes. So far, I've liked Reebok and Prince and maybe
Addidas better than others. These days, there seem to be less of Mid cut
tennis shoes and I think I'm going to try the new Fila Open Mid.
For those who tried Fila shoes,.. how are Fila shoes in general ?
Any input on Fila shoes including Open Mid would be appreciated.....

Thanks,
fastdun

I bought the Fila US Open 2004 when they went on close out and I have been wearing for them for about a week. So far they have been very good as far as cushioning, support and traction. They compare very favorably to the BIIs that I had been wearing before and are just a little heavier. The durability I obviously don't know about yet, but they have a 7 month guaranteed outersole.

a lady friend bought a pair: awful. they weren't comfortable and produced blisters along the contour of the soles, in the front part.

not too durable either.

perhaps she needs something wider (this might be a generic problem with Fila), but this is the feedback I have.

Thanks guys for inputs.

The toe area of the Fila Open Mid does look tight.
If I ever get the shoes, I'd have to get ine size up....

The Axelis shoes are awesome. They take a couple days to break in, and they are a bit heavy (not noticeable to someone coming off the MDP's). Looks (white and red) and stability both excellent. 7 month warranty is a plus.

Different cultures do different things well; Italy has long been a source of some of the most stylish of footwear, but they are not known for comfort. I have a pair of Fila that are only usable for casual wear due to idiosyncratic fit. I once ordered a pair of Diadora and they were barely comfortable enough to just stand in.

I don't think it's fair to generalize about companies like that. The Diadora Protech's were awesome for me (just order down a size), and I think the Fila Axelis is also an outstanding shoe. Sadly though, I have never bought any other shoes from either company to compare them with...I expect that to change though.

I had a pair of the X-point version 1.

The shoe is quite light compared to most other. But the overall quality suck

The strip of the shoe detached from the upper surface and fly out like thrones, like a 'throne pig' is you could imagine

The Axilus Ds look nice. I tried them on but they were a bit on the narrow side.

The tend to be very small in the "toebox".. and narrow in general.

Steve

I agree. Every company has low end and bad models for tennis shoes including Nike and Adidas. I have been very happy with the Diadora shoes I have tried including the Protech and Kynetech. Even the Diadora Champions I would place as one of the best tennis shoes for $39. I have only tried one Fila Shoe but so far it has been very good.

I have had a couple of pairs of Filas. They were ok...not outstanding at anything but a decent "all around" shoe. What I did notice though was that they are noticably more noisy (lots of squeeking) than other brands but maybe that was just for those that I've tried.

Their US Open shoes suck! I used to pretty much kill them in 3 weeks. But i ballboy at the Open, so it's the only time I used to wear them. Ankle support was not the best, and cushioning could be much better. But then again, we run for 8 hours a day...

Fila was known more for its look than function up until a couple of years ago, since then the shoes they've had have been head and shoulders above the crap they had in the mid-late 90s. That being said, their old Grant Hill shoe is still one of the sweetest basketball kicks ever.

Well I have been wearing the US Open 2004 model now for about 12 sets and I am really surprised that they have a durability guarantee. The tread is getting pretty bald and they don't seem to last as long as even the Figjams which I thought were pretty easy to wear down.

Personally, I like the Fila X-Point shoes. (The red one, as worn by Xavier Malisse 2004 :)) They are really fitting for my foot.
