How can I prevent bruise under toenails?

Hi everyone. I’m a bit concerned because I keep getting bruises under my toenails after playing tennis. It doesn’t happen for every practice/game, but it’s pretty frequent…

I’ve tried wearing bigger-sized shoes (asics gel resolution 9 and nike zoom GP challenge 1) max-cushioned socks—not really helped. Or should I try the rtp tennis shoes (wellllll they cost ~$30 for a pair, so I’m not thatttttt eager to..)?

IF anyone have any tips that worked for them, please share with me.. I’d also be glad to get shoes/socks recommendations!

Top of the toes or front of the foot hitting the tip of the shoe?

If first case, either get wider shoe or stretch out the top of the shoe. Use anything that you can jam in there like an adjustable shoe tree.

If 2nd case, go up a half size.

If cause is foot movement inside shoe, try different lacing methods to lock heel.

Stick with one brand, find the size that fits (which is likely a half size larger than what you're wearing), never buy shoes other than that brand in that size, keep your toenails trimmed.

Tip of the shoe, I guess... I already got a half size up but not helpful:(

See if this helps.
This seems to be a good online resource for different ways of tying shoelaces to make shoes fit better for different foot types.

I got a 'runner' s toe' also. Happened indoors after having to stop abruptly running after a dropshot...

I had new shoes then. Now that that they are 'broken in' I have no more problem.

There are toe protectors but never used them so not sure how effective they are.
Things like this :

I had these. Very annoying. Got rid of them using shoes with large toe-box like K-Swiss Hypercourt Express. And silicone protections for toes. Easier to wear than tape.
Good advise, a shoe with a larger toe box not necessarily a longer shoe. Love my K-Swiss shoes. And Thorlo socks the best cushion shocks for tennis.
