How can swingweight be so off?

I bought two rackets and the specs said the swingweight on them was supposed to be 307. I used TW match service and the swingweight was listed as 268. That is almost 40 points off. This is highway robbery. How can there be so much discrepancy? And why should we let the manufactures get away with this?

Any comments are welcome.

that is unstrung. I also got my PS 85 specs unstrung. Even then, the swingweight is off by about 10 units (too few).

Why don't you check them yourself?

Manufacturer spec quality control is awful with most of the big brands. However, you are better off having them light and building the weight back up.

Your experience is unusual and you can always return them.

Hardly ever heard of a STRUNG racket with a SW of 268. While it's possible, it's very improbable.
And you're not going to tell us what racket it is, right?

there are 3 current frames with a 307 sw in the TW store...2 yonex and the gamma 100...

but looks like strung vs unstrung to me...usually string adds about 15g and 4g in the upper hoop can increase sw about 9 points. So 40 points sounds like the effect of stringing. probably a misunderstanding...I would measure them.

fwiw a few years ago the TW matching service was pretty sloppy. But since then it has steadily improved and I have no reservation recommending it. Since its chaotic early days it has become far more precise and reliable.
