How crucial was that point ?

I am talking about Wimbledon SF 2012 - Fed vs Novak.

1 set all . 4-4 in the 3rd set. Fed after having some break points and not converting it in the previous game, suddenly finds himself at 30-40 after leading in that game.

It was equal to a match point.

Had Fed lost that point, I think it would have been a real tough ask for Fed to make it in 5.

Somehow Fed served clutch and saved that point, took the next 2 points and then immediately broke Novak to take the set.

Carried that momentum to go up 3-0 in the 4th set, never to look back.

Novak basically played a bad 10 minutes that decided the outcome.

Overall Fed played better than Novak, but if you take out that 10 minutes , this could have still been Novak's match.

I want at least one match where Fed saves couple of match points and beat Novak - USO 2012 final may be ?

I'd just about forgotten all about that break point, with the fourth set being so one-sided. It's still a bit of a dwarfish 'what if' compared to their NYC semis, and Djoko's Gulbis of a last set doesn't merit such counterfactual scenarios.

We're talking about his chipped forehand return that sailed long? Not often you see a match turn and ride on one point but it did. Did Djok attempt any other chip forehand return anywhere else in the match or just that one time. Not sure if he got absolutely fooled or got tentative for just a moment, which is not his normal mode when things get tight.

Tentative. Lost his nerve for a moment. But come on, that wasn't the decider. Djokovic saved three break points earlier in the set. Federer didn't care. He come right out the next game and held. Djokovic should have played stronger in the next game and taken it to 5-5.

If that was Murray fed was playing, he would have seen a screaming return blow by him and lost the set and the match.

Nahh, you shouldn't want something like that. Lets just be happy that he has beaten Djokovic. Federer is way too much of a champion to even care about petty things like that.
