How did Alcaraz and his team figure out the Djoko serve and overall improve his weaknesses this quickly?

Djokovic won the 2nd lowest % of points on his 1st serve in his career at Wimbledon. He only won 58.8% vs. Murray and won 62% today. In a full match, he has only failed to win at least 70% of first serve points 4 times: vs. Murray, vs. Alcaraz, vs. Querry, vs 2007 Nadal.

One of the things that has a made Djokovic so successful has been his willingness to listen to his team and use analytics to continually improve his game. I think this is the key thing that has allowed him to statistically pass Federer and Nadal.

It looks like Alcaraz and his team are following in those footsteps.

1) The immense improvement of his return, his return anticipation, and the depth of his return. This has really been astonishing to see.

Has anyone ever allowed only 9 aces over three matches and 11 sets played on grass? Is this even possible?

Djokovic: 62% of 1st serves won and 2 aces, 40% of return points won
Medvedev: 70% of 1st serves won, 5 aces, 46% of return points won
Rune: 75% of 1st serves won, 2 aces, 34% of return points won
Berrettin: 67% of 1st serves won, 9 aces, 39% of return points won
Jarry: 72% of first serves won (served at 74%), 15 aces, 38% of return points won

Compare this to last year

Loss to Sinner, no breaks, won 29.5% of return points
Loss to Zverev, 2 breaks, won 31.3% of return points on clay

I really thought that Djokovic would win a close match because the matchup dynamics favored him holding serve much easier than Carlitos would, but that really wasn’t the case as Carlos was getting everything back and forcing Djokovic to play.

Return points won: Carlos, 74; Djokovic, 56

2. stroke compactness you saw that opponents were able to take advantage of the longer wind up that he had last year. His team was able to shorten this wind up and make it more compact in the span of a couple of weeks starting at Queens and then continuing here at Wimbledon, I don’t think I’ve ever seen an adjustment on strokes this drastic, this quickly and then have it work .

Alcaraz did the same thing to Medvedev.
Well, Medvedev is no grass player and his ROS stance is pathetic and exploitable. We can't compare someone like Med to a seven-time Wimbledon champion. Novak is the vastly better player on all surfaces, particularly grass and clay. Beating Med is nowhere near comparable to beating Djokovic.

I think the poster is specifically talking about return of serve. Medvedev has a lot of issues, but his service actually really good and Andres. He should’ve been able to hit more than five aces against Carlitos.
