How did Rafael Nadal become the most consistent performer out of the big three?

Maybe, time will tell. But Rafael from ages 31 to 35 has 4 slams and counting. Maestro laid a big fat pigeon egg. And that is becoming the difference, my friend 8-B;)
Federer's competition in 2010-2016 was in a different stratosphere than Nadal's. Nadal would have problems winning Monte Carlos if he was in his 30s at the time. Djokovic alone would be enough to stop him.

12/18 slams from 2003-2007

*Djokovic and Nadal become good*

8/46 slams from 2007-2019

From 2005-07 Nadal had won 3 FOs and 0 others. from 2007-19, in 12 years he won 6 outside FO. How much good Rafa became from 2007 that he could only win 6 GS outside FO. He was good at FO since 2005.

I think the true fed fans and not the nadal haters will also acknowledge the fast that he has been the most consistent in slams for the past 2 years.

Ok so Nadal wins 4 slams (3 x RG and 1 x USO) between 2017-2019.

The same Nadal in 2005-07 (minus his young self):

Wins RG 2005 and 2007. That's it! 2 slams!

I think any moron should be able to figure out Fed is 35-37 years old in the timeframe under discussion. 99% of pro tennis players are retired at those ages and the fact he won 3 majors when so old is unprecedented in the sport. It has nothing to do with “hate” to effortlessly refute comparisons to players 5 and 6 years younger.

Kudos to Nadal for being there more times than the other two. The bizarre situation of US Open 2017 makes the difference of one extra slam win but he still edges his rivals without it.

Hes done well at all the slams which is impressive, hes missed a lot of HC masters so maybe that's giving him the extra gas in the tank come the slams.

Nice arbitrary time frame though, I mean if it were since 2016 it would be Djokovic with 5 slams to 4 and if it were since 2018 it would be 3 to 2, so picking since 2017 is the only way to put Nadal on top ;)

No, it isn't. Ken Rosewall won three majors between 35-37.

Can you please stop clogging up the forum with completely ignorant posts. It's one thing not to know simple facts (such as how to write Roland-Garros), it's quite another to spend all day, every day pontificating on a sport you are clearly barely acquainted with.

And please try and cut out the "moron" talk. It should be possible to discuss tennis without using abusive language.

Baghdatis, Philliweakis, Roddick, Hewitt ;)
Baghdatis:

Epitome of waisted talent. But granted, not the greatest opponent. However, GOAT racket smasher and delusional egomaniac.

Phillipousis:

Fastest serve in the world at one point, so no slouch on grass. 2 time major finalist. Most famous Reality tv Greek gigolo.

Roddick:

Amazing serve, world #1, USO champ. 5-4 record vs Djokovic, perennial top 10 player. Terrible hat wearer.

Hewitt:

Amazing ROS, world #1, 2 time major champion, 1 time finalist, 5-4 record versus ATG Pete Sampras, 4-4 record vs Meth-Amph-Agassi. BFF with Nick Kyrgios, racist? (maybe not anymore).

Anyway, aside from Baghdatis, those are some legit players, and two HOFers, and I wouldn’t consider any of them weak competition, especially in this day and age, with the likes of big little man Zverev, Thiem, RBA, PCB, Weak-ikori, Del-Splinter, and a rotating cast of next-gen twitter addicts.

Roddick, Hewitt, and even Phillipousis stood head and shoulders above the current crop of non big 3 elite players.

Yes, bc they didn't have to deal with Djokovic and Nadal.

Are you saying that anyone in the history of tennis that didn’t face Nadal and Djokovic played in a weak era and their achievements should be seen as insignificant?

Im saying they are good enough to keep the nextgen down and the gen before them and the gen before them. If YOU want to take that further than feel free.

Since the start of 2017 at grand slams,

Nadal: 6 finals, 4 grand slam titles, 8 SF
Federer: 3 finals, 3 grand slam titles, 4 SF
Djokovic: 3 finals, 3 grand slam titles, 4 SF

When did Rafael Nadal become the most consistent all-court performer of the big three?
Let’s look at this tiny segment of their careers where Fed is ancient and Djoker was injured half the time period
