How did they hold up once the matches actually got tougher?

Studies show that vegans can have better endurance and submaximal aerobic capacity compared to omnivores, potentially due to increased carbohydrate availability and reduced inflammation. Factors like high carbohydrate intake, which fuels glycogen storage, and higher antioxidant levels in vegan diets are thought to contribute to these endurance benefits. However, it's crucial that vegan diets are well-planned to ensure adequate intake of essential nutrients and to avoid potential disadvantages.

Plant-based diets are associated with less inflammation and oxidative stress, which can improve athletic performance, recovery, and reduce fatigue.

A vegan diet can lead to lower blood pressure, cholesterol, and body mass index, contributing to better cardiovascular health and oxygen utilization.

IMO only the 5-setter statistics are telling. The match length column should be misleadingly inflated by Nadal's and (to a lesser extent) Djokovic's time wasting before serving.
