In one of their most explosive and memorable matches, Djokovic had not won a title that year heading into this final. He had a serious point to prove, Federer was back on the rise, having won Dubai a few weeks earlier, defeating Djokovic along the way. This match full of the best shot making possible from both players, came down to a final set tie break, where Djokovic managed to hold off the brilliance of Federer and win a match for the ages. One of the best Indian Wells finals of all time.



Miami

vs Nadal 2011

No question about it, this is the best three set match they have played on HC, both players at the peak of their powers. This match would go onto have a lot of historical significance, as Djokovic would confirm his place as the best player in the world and start a mental run against Nadal that would eventually take over the rankings. Both players with a point to prove, Nadal was hellbent for revenge after losing in Indian Wells, Djokovic determined to show his time had come. The tie break in the final set was all that divided them, with Djokovic once again showing how clutch he was.



Canada 2007

vs Federer

The match that underlined the legitimacy of Djokovic, coming into the match, he had never beaten Federer before, who was the outright world's best player. Novak made his mark on this event, and to this day is one of his most special wins, as he beat the world number 3, world number 2 and the world number 1 in succession. It all lead to a final set tie break, and the young Djokovic showed his worth in gold, out foxing the mighty Federer to record at the time the biggest win of his career. It was truly his coming out party as a future member of the big 3.


Cincinnati 2023

vs Alcaraz

Considered by many to be the greatest best of three masters final on HC of all time. Alcaraz was coming in having defeated Djokovic at Wimbledon, and having all the momentum on his side. Djokovic with a point to prove battles against the extreme heat and the explosive style of Alcaraz' game, producing his finest display of volleying seen. He saves a MP and ultimately pushes the match the distance, before one of the greatest battle of wills seen, a match worthy of a slam final, Djokovic once again clutches out a final set tie break to record an iconic win.



Shanghai 2012

vs Murray

One of the most magical matches seen in recent history, Murray was heading into Shanghai having all the momentum. He had defeated Djokovic at the Olympics, and then again in the US Open, he also had won the last two Shanghai masters, and when he was serving for the match and had championships points, it looked a done deal. Novak however had other plans, he saves five MPs and clutches out a tie break to finally break Murray's resolve, and then roars his way to victory in the final set. One of the best matches ever between them.



Paris 2009

vs Monfils

Djokovic was heading into the final masters event of year with all the weight of the world on his shoulders, he had not won a masters all season, having lost several heartbreakers that year, this was last chance. Novak had managed to find some form, having won Basel the week before, his game was finally clicking, Monfils playing at home, pushed as hard as he could, and again Djokovic found himself in the final set tie break. With his back against the wall, he didn't hold back, winning with an emphatic roar in the end.
