How do Agassi and Nadal's games matchup on each surface

I rate Rafa's 2008 season better than any of Federer's, simply he beat better competition he beat onfire Djoker and Federer in Paris and Federer again at Wimbledon, not to mention he won Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Hamburg, French Open, Queens, Wimbledon, Toronto and the Olympics in the space of a few months.

LOL !

Old Agassi was a better overall player. He wasn't as physically athletic but he played way smarter and didn't make nearly as many dumb errors. Young Agassi even playing at his best (in 95) was prone to do some really dumb things like go for way too much.

Agassi's best to worst years as far as his actual tennis, not neccessarily results which can be dependent on alot of factors including strength of competition, circumstances, playing conditions, luck:

1. 1995
2. 2001
3. 1999
----big gap----
4. 1990
5. 2002
6. 1994
7. 2003
----another big gap----
8. 1992
9. 1988
10. 2004
11. 1991
12. 2005
13. 1989
14. 2000
-----another big gap----
15. 1996
16. 1998
17. 1993
----another big gap-----
18. 2006
19. 1987
20. 1997
21. 1986

There is a reason I laugh at the concept of "prime" Agassi.

If mental game, includes strategies and tactics as well as mental toughness, then these are my choices:

Hard Courts:

Forehand- Agassi
Backhand- Agassi
Serve- Agassi
Return- Agassi
Net game- Even
Movement- Nadal
Mental game- Agassi

Clay:

Forehand- Nadal
Backhand- Nadal
Serve- Nadal
Return- Agassi
Net game- Even
Movement- Nadal
Mental game- Nadal

Grass:

Forehand- Agassi
Backhand- Agassi
Serve- Even
Return- Agassi
Net game- Even
Movement- Nadal
Mental game- Nadal

the matchup is not good for agassi at all.

a lot of people look at only tennis technique but they dont understand that athleticism is just as important.

nadal has phenomenal body control, strength and speed. He can play defense to offense and contrary to popular belief, his fh does bother agassi's bh quite a bit.

Agassi does struggle against players who have superior athleticism, someone who can take his shots and come back in the rallies. Sampras used to use his speed to the fh to scare the crap out of andre because he could unleash one of trademark slapper fhs on the run.

I watched nadal - agassi in canada and andre was struggling to control rafa's spin.

agassi's best chance is on a slick indoor court. Anywhere else, nadal is too good.

Rios was a problem for andre. Now instead take nadal - player with way better movement, superior mental and physical toughness, better more heavy rally shots. you have a player who could give dre fits.

I agree with most all of that. Nadal would be a nightmare opponent for Agassi.
