How do i enter in a tournament? is there a easy way?

Hi, im probably a 4-4.5 lvl but i havent entered any tournament to make sure im actually at that lvl, is it a hassle to get into a tournament?one time i actually tried to enter or find all the deatail to enter but they needed me to send them a mail with money to enter the tournament because the holder of the tournament is in another area...like i live in canada, BC and they wanted me to send to Toronto but the tournament is in BC....does this seem weird? now im sortof confuse in how to enter a tournament and unsure of how to do any tournament without joining a club for help....
i been thorugh highschool teams but not sure does those counts at all:P

I am not sure how they do it in Canada, but through USTA its couple clicks of the button on the internet after entering your USTA number and credit card:)

Not sure about canada, maybe ATP? or does canada have an organization like USTA?

In america I joined USTA. you can search for tournaments in your area thru tennis link. YOu can sign up for many online or just call the courts, give them your USTA number. Couldn't be easier now that I'm in it. I think USTA is doing their $25 sign up right now. It's a good deal. Plus you get ranked with those in your area, which is great for keeping up with your progress as a player. Support your local tennis by joining your USTA and getting involved. Good luck!

Thanks to playing tournaments and playing up a level, i'm now playing NTRP 3.0.

which page on the USTA site do I go to in order to sign up for tournaments??
the USTA site seems overly complex in terms of registering for a tournament :-(

I'd like to sign up for a men's 3.0 tournament anytime after Spetember 2007 in the Northern New Jersey/ New York City area.

I've already become a USTA member (I have my USTA member ID # in hand), but am totally confused as to where on the USTA site to search.

Also, please fill me in on the availability of tournaments..
Can I assume that in the winter, there will be less tournaments held??
I tried searching for tournaments, but the closest ones are an hour and half drive in southern Jersey!!

Anyone, Please help!! Thanks!

It's pretty easy, really. Go to USTA.com, then tennis link, then tournaments. Then enter your section (Eastern), the month you want, and the type of tournament you want (NTRP). You should get a list of several tournaments. However, in that part of the country in the fall and winter, I'm guessing there aren't very many to pick from. You may have to drive pretty far for one.

Hello

I'm from BC too. I haven't entered any tournaments yet, but I plan on doing so this year. You should be able to enter tournaments through the USTA website/membership. They are part of the Pacific Northwest section of the USTA.

Here is the website:
http://tennislink.usta.com/tournaments/schedule/search.aspx?Section=60&Division=G9

Just search for the tournaments in BC.

Some of these tournaments you can register online, but I think some do in fact require mailed cheques. If you need more help, I'm sure if you e-mail the USTA they will answer all your questions regarding their BC tournaments.
