How do you calibrate Prince 5000 machine?

I just got a Prince 5000 machine I have no clue how to calibrate it. I tried messing with the calibration screws on the back of the machine but it doesn't do anything. I wonder if there's a special button or sequence of steps before I can calibrate. The manual doesn't mention anything about calibration.

Thanks!

Isn't the 5000 self-calibrating? I'd not mess with anything until you have a full understanding. I'd suggest you give TennisMachines a call. They are the licensed Prince repair center.

Definitely call Tennis Machines, they know the machine inside and out. I recently considered getting a near new 5000, in amazing condition, from my local Sports Authority (closing down), but their ask was twice what Tennis Machines said the machine is worth today. Be advised that Prince's supplier is no longer making boards for this model. Tennis Machines still has some in stock, but when they are gone they are gone. Orphan products are no fun to live with over the long haul. I would have definitely picked up a spare board if I had purchased the machine.

Thanks! I called Tennis Machines but their tech is out until Friday. I'm not sure what you mean by "boards"?

I'm not sure. There's a screw in the back for tension adjustment but it doesn't do anything.

That's kind of scary. It may not appear to do anything, but you could be affecting the pull. Do you have any kind of calibrator; even a spring one. If you do, check and see if it pulls to 50 pounds. What I'm specifically looking to see is if you've changed the pull to be off by 10 pounds or whatever. If it reads 50 on the calibrator, I'd leave it alone. If it's way off, you might have to send it to TM.

When you turn the adjustment it looks the same but tension changes. Let's say you pull to 60 lbs but your tension gauge reads 61 lbs. When you make an adjustment the tension changes let's say to 60 lbs, but that is what the readout said all along. That begs the question, "How accurate is your stringer now?"

I was using my calibrator but I didn't notice it move. I'll try again and to see if this is the case.
