How do you find out if courts are available at your facility?

I'm trying to find an efficient means of reserving courts at the tennis club I belong to. We presently have a reservation book in the clubhouse where we reserve courts and sign out courts. The problem is finding out if courts are available when you're away from the club.

Our 2 tennis pros are usually out giving lessons, so are not available to answer the phone when you call to reserve courts. You can email them or leave a message, to reserve courts, if you do so well in advance, but the problem come in when you are trying to reserve courts for that day.

I've looked into computerized systems, but they would require we have a pc in our clubhouse. I'm not sure that will work out so well with small kids going in and out all summer.

What have you found that works where you play?

Online reservation system. The PC could be locked up, or you could 'cloud compute' to an off site server. BHBH

Our club uses an online service called "tennis connect". It does not do much else besides court scheduling. But it serves our needs.

Our system locks down the the scheduler so you may only schedule online until closing time one day in advance. However, you can see which courts have been reserved at any time so even if you want to play today you can check at home and see if there are slots available.

So I would suggest you let people access online up to the day before. At the the end of the day your pro could print out the next day's schedule. If players want same day access then they must call or show up in person.

Thanks for the feedback.

So, does your club work this way? With a manual book at the facility and only advance reservation via computer?

I'm not sure your suggestion helps, in our case, as the club pro's are good at making reservations done well in advance - the problem is making reservations the day you want to play.

No... we have a receptionist at all times for same day reservations. however, I would say that 99% of our fututre reservations are all done via the computer.

We're using a system called the Jiba Board. It's a touch-screen systeem with a magnetic card reader that can also be used online. Every tennisplayer in The Netherlands has a KNLTB membership card (Dutch USTA) with a magnetic strip that can be used for this system.

Don't know if it's sponsored by the KNLTB, but it costs 160 euros per year in service costs.
