How do you properly fit tennis shoes?

hy guys, I was just wondering how much space there has to be from the tip of your toe to the toebox of the shoe with socks on for a propper fitting of your tennis shoes. I'm currently wearing adidas adizero ubersonic 2 and mostly play on clay. I don't know if for the future I might want to go up a half or a full size. Thanks in advance.

I like tight shoes, I wear babolat propulse and I like my toe to be as close as possible to the end without actually making contact. I think it is up to personal preference, but most of my partners like a finger width between toe and end of their shoes.

I like a tight fit on my tennis shoes. Usually they are half size smaller than my running or street shoes. Thus, my tennis shoes have to be tied really well, while the street shoes can be worn untied. Hope this helps

My feet tend to want to slide forward while putting the brakes on when serving and volleying. For that reason, I like a snug fit around the back and side of my feet with a little extra length in the toe box.

i am with the others here.. rubbing is a big problem.. so a snug fit to your particular foot is key, where the fit won't allow the foot to slide around. i wear nike zoom cages in 9 1/2 with a single sock.. or 10's double sock. i stock both sizes..cooler weather and when my feet are not 100% i double sock.

I used to like tight shoes...now I am the opposite. I like shoes with room. My T-22's feel pretty big, but I find them to be very stable. T-22 lites are more cozy but still not too tight. I don't like messing with toenail issues.

Try on shoes at the end of the day or at least in the afternoon as your feet typically swell and then get ones with the best feel in the forefoot and arch, that's basically how I do it. Though my shoe history would be interesting to some I would think as they are vastly different but all work well for me ...

I hate the toe jamming issue, thus I will try ordering the larger sized shoes, thanks to all for your input!
