How does everyone here feel about Hawkeye Live, the new automated line calling system introduced this year in the US Open bubble?

Personally, I like it. It's great that players just shut the **** up and play tennis now. No more ridiculous line calls. I do feel bad for the lines people though.

There are some posts about a "line review".
What is the purpose of a "line review" if a machine is being used?

I think it is the future of all professional tennis.
The Line Review is just a visual confirmation of what the machine called. I have seen a couple of instances where the call was wrong when they looked at the line review, so I think that is good as well.

As long as the technology is more accurate than the trained professional human eye, I like it. The only thing I'll miss is the slight strategy and drama involved with using a set number of challenges per set.

Meh. It's efficient and in theory should be more fair. Yet I don't like lines people removed. Venue already looks like a creepy ghost town, without fans and with ball kids wearing masks.

Definitely good. What about robots for the balls. wouldnt that be better too. Esp w covid

Good for kids to have the experience and work tho in the smaller tournaments.

Love it!
I also love ball kids not handling players’ wet towels. I hope this stays.

During the FAA v Sangren match there was some blown calls on the baseline. At least three that I saw. Also the timing needs to be sped up, the call comes awfully late.
That being said, this has been coming for a while, and will likely be the future. A tournament director doesn’t need to feed and transport the Hawkeye crew to and from the hotel (also another TD expense), nor do they need to provide an on-site location for them to gather when not on court.
The bottom line alone has to appeal to the TD more than anything.
