How does Nadal get all these muscles ?

Now that's enough ! How can a tennis player get so muscular ? How much time does he spend in the gym ? Now this is enough, I want to know the whole truth about it. No tennis player has ever needed to be that big. Enough is enough. I want to know the truth about Hulk. What is the anti doping officials doing. This is sick.

I've been wondering too. He looks like a Linebacker for the NFL. I do approve of being fit, but cut and muscular...someone tested him for Roids yet?

One thing i do have trouble figuring out is how rafa can play so well with Non-dominant hand or arm. Rafa is right handed and everyone knows this. Does this mean if rafa played right handed then he would be even better player ??

yeah well hes probably not that big in person first off and in general hes not that big for roids hands down.recovery time after excersising i think he has to take something not necessarily illegal either.hes not that big

Yeah, this is absoulutely insane. When you look at him you see a child's face in a Hulk's body. Florence Griffith Joyner rings a bell.

I don't think he's that big. Many other athletes from other sports seem much bigger than him.
Absolutely
Soooooooooo much junk is written about Nadal, it's untrue.
I hit/play with guys [that do gym raining] who are way,
way bigger (more muscular etc.) than Nadal.
He doesn't look heavily muscled to me at all.

Also, I have a lean build and have a 'defined' body -
but it comes entirely from on-court training...
I have never done any gym work (not since i was 14)
an have never taken steroids - yet people think that
i do weight/resistance training from looking at my
physique.

Wow, I thought that kind of thinking died in the middle age.

He eats a lot of fish. You should try it. And he reels in lots of big fish, its good for the biceps.

Haha yeah

hes big but hes not huge all he has to do is lift weights its not like hes on roids hes not that big

The funny thing is that I recall him saying in some interview that he hasn't lifted weights in his whole life. I got friends who have that natural gift...the simple hard daily hard work they do as a living has made them have bodies I wouldn't have even if I lifted weights all my life.

Nadal uses a lot more strenght in everything he does on a tennis court than any other player right now or ever...its his style. That alone and a gifted body can give you those muscles.

Nadal is pretty ripped but on roids? I saw him live practicing 10ft away from me @ Indian Wells and he's not that big at all. Agassi in his prime and Gambill will out lift Nadal any day just to name a few. I don't know how it is where you live but guys here that go to the gym 3 times a week and are nowhere near a world class athlete are a lot more muscular than Nadal.

Nadal is just more muscular & leaner than most pro tennis players, but if you compare him to an AVERAGE gym rat he's pretty pathetic, muscle size wise. The comparison with a NFL linebacker is ridiculous. . . maybe a top high school linebacker.

Finally, some rationality here....!
You have to wait but it does come along....

thank you very much for pointing out the sheer idiocy of this thread

Honestly! He was taught to play tennis left-handed! It's not like one day he was like hm... I want to be all cool and play left-handed!

Most intelligent statement I've heard all day.

+50 cool points for the reality check.

When someone is physically fit and fairly defined and is great at their sport it is now constituted as drug use. Unfortunately there will always be morons that blindly blame the players at the top of their respective sport without any evidence other then a fit body and great results on the court.

eh guys, stop whining and start doing your push ups. then you can be like nadal. life is simple why complicate stuff?:)

He's not "big". Just has absolutely zero fat on his body.

Probably on a seriously strict diet, and just keeps fit.

Exactly. He is extremely cut. Some people are just lucky and have the genes for this. If he more sleeves, no one would even be talking about this.

Tennis has the most stringent drug-testing program. It "caught" Coria and Canas for using legal medications that were made using the same instruments the drug company to manufacture other controlled substances. That's how sensitive the tests were. Those guys even successfully sued the ATP after they were suspended because they had done nothing wrong.

when i saw nadal close up i thought he looked more lean in the upper body than bulk, his legs are very big and strong though

Nadal definetly isn't on steroids... he's not that muscular. He has lean muscles, which come from being on the court. His style of play requires and uses alot of muscles, and he's naturally gifted with lean muscles; therefore, what he is. Don't be jealous of all the hard work he has done.

It's interesting because Nadal says the same thing as you. He doesn't like the gym and gets his muscles from the practising on court (that's why his left arm is bigger than his right), there's also a genetic part to being well built.

Ok, first of all Nadal does not do Steroids. He's gone through loads of doping tests and has come up clean every time. Secondly, he gets his strength from swimming. I heard John McEnroe say that Nadal frequently swims to help stay in shape.

he doesn't lift weights, but he does do alot of work with those ripcord bands. resistance bands are quite good for tennis, and they add more power, and create leaner mass and they are better for joints and flexibility. if you use a high resistance band its the same thing as doing free weights, and then you use the lighter cord for muscle definition. and for his legs he just does running and single leg squats.

Nadal possesses elite genetics, something that goes beyond steroids. The pillsbury doughboy on roids will never approach a clean Rafa. Hell, the average amateur bodybuilder injecting "questionable substances" will barely get to Rafa's bicep measurements after a few cycles.

I tend to agree with most of what's been said that Nadal is probably not as big as he seems to be...

Tennis players compared to football, baseball and even basketball players are sticks. So anyone who has any hint of muscle in the tennis world will stand out.

Also, doesn't the camera add 10 lbs? :)

Yes when I first saw RAfa at Wimbledon I thought - where's the muscles? They are so hyped up in photos and he doesn't look anything other that a very well toned athelete

Thanks. :)
I don't know about Nadal's background but i come from
sporting 'stock' - my mother was a very good tennis
player (champion in army leagues etc.), hockey
player and horserider..... and i seem to be naturally
athletic, too: i was good (but not outstanding) at track,
gymnastics and trampolining at school) without putting
much effort into any of those disciplines. I think all
those things make a difference.

On that photo he looks completely normal to me. Other photos show him being more muscular but when you take a photo of anyone in full effort the muscles will be filled with blood and look bigger. Just take a look at yourself after going to the gym. Anyone will look like a body builder when still warm after a work out.
Plus Nadal is wearing sleeveless shirts. If he did not nobody would be talking about his muscles.

I believe its genetic. I have the same body. Im skinny but im well defined and cut. I work out a little bit but have been cut all my life. PLus hes tan so its defines the muscles even more. If you go to gyms alot and compare rafa with people theres hes actually pretty skinny. He has low body fat and moderate muscle growth similar to bruce lee.

Rafa is in great shape, but he's not that big. Most bodybuilders would laugh at his physique because of how unproportional it is.

Now for tennis, he's pretty big.
