How Does Roddick Prepare For Agassi?

If they have to play, how does Roddick mentally prepare himself? Do you think he treats this like just another match?

I'll tell you how he prepares, he'll catch Agassi's Becker match in some form, he will then follow the press stories after to see how Andre is holding up to see if he has a fighting chance against him. Agassi is superior to Roddick even at 36, Agassi leads Roddick 5-1 h2h. Agassi will have to play un-Agassi-like for Roddick to beat him. It's these unknowns that always worry me with Agassi, like Ben Becker.

How does he prepare for Agassi?

1] First, by playing a great match against Verdasco.
2] By cooling down and eating after that.
3] Then sleeping and getting a massage.
4] By practicing a lot of deep groundstrokes and angled volleys.
5] By treating it with the cold efficiency of any other match in which he ought to be favored.....yet accepting that whatever happens in this match could be replayed a thousand times over the years (Krickstein/Connors style).

Totally.....but Roddick/Verdasco is scheduled second on Ashe, right after the Agassi/Becker match. SO he may just have John do it....or ask for the tapes.

Man I died laughing at #5. You're quick! Man I'm trying to post this but I'm still laughing each time I read it...lol

I hope this is Roddick's schedule:

1. Play a grueling 5 hour match against Verdasco. Sprain ankle and tweak back and wrist in the process.

2. Don't eat any food, just drink fluids. It's like going into surgery; you don't want to eat 24 hours before the match or you could end up vomiting on court. Can't take that chance.

3. Have a six pack before going to bed, to relax the nerves. Put a few eyedrops in each can, just to make it a bit more salty and tasty.

4. Stay awake into the wee hours of the night writing letters and poems to Sharapova. Slip them under her door at 4 AM, then go back at 5 AM and try to pull the letters out from under the door using a paperclip and gum.

5. Toss and turn in bed for 45 minutes, then wake up.

6. Spend the entire day and afternoon playing intense practice matches. Remember, no meals.

7. Play Agassi on center court! Give it your best shot!
