How does the Nike warranty process work?

So I was planning to buy a pair of Cage 3s and wear it out since I hear you would get a Nike gift card? Did anybody go through this process with Nike and received a gift card that can be used on anything? Also, if you do receive a gift card, does that mean you can use the warranty multiple times because each gift card purchase counts as a regular purchase.

6month-Warranty claim is for one time only.
Also Nike will send you a voucher which can use at Nike website only. You can buy whatever you want from their website.

Wasn't quite a warranty claim, but I sent back two pairs (at different times) of Zoom Zeroes. The eyelet where the laces go broke on me twice and Nike sent me a voucher for the retail price of the shoes. The voucher can only be used on Nike. com though. From start to finish it took about two weeks. So Nike does stand behind their product.

cage 3 is a bit snug getting on.. the integrated bootie is a challenge for me to get on.. once on it is great. very secure, comfortable, etc.. the friction of taking it on and off wore the tag on the tongue..basically disintegrated. nike refused my claim because the tags were altered or removed. they said they couldn't prove the shoes were made in the last 2 years.. i responded that the color way would tell them exactly when they made their shoe.. didn't work.. i returned them to a store and they gave me a full refund.. i have claimed at least 30 pairs in 10 years.. this was a first time rejection. still love the policy. best out there

Is the voucher for the amount you paid or for original msrp of the shoe or?

Sorry - for the Nike voucher do you send the shoes back to Nike or to tennis warehouse (from whom I originally purchased)?

If you bought your cages on sale from TW, you’re better off returning them to TW for a replacement pair now. Nike has stopped issuing vouchers for the MSRP and now only gives what you paid for them. It’s not enough to buy another pair of cages—clearance pairs are ~$115 on Nike.com last I checked—if you purchased at the normal TW clearance price of $97.50 or so.

Thanks for the heads up. I was actually hoping to try a pair of vapor X’s as their replacement.

really? i always buy mine from their site or at one of their clearance stores. i turn them away if they are more than $70. i just sent back a pair a few weeks ago and found another at the store. Mine came back for $130 after spending $58 on them.

They don’t “never” drop low enough, but I don’t think it’s convenient to wait around until the shoes eventually drop in price. I buy the 6-month guaranteed shoes because I go through them in 5 weeks versus 2-3 for vapors and the like. I can’t afford to wait a month or more to get another pair of shoes that fits the voucher price, usually. Switching to Asics since the resolution is comfy, lasts longer, and they replace with another pair for even a little bit of foam showing.

this happened once before to me a year ago.. first time ever i wasn't given the $130.. that time i spoke to a person beyond the initial person you get on the phone and they wouldn't change the amount on the voucher since it had already been printed.. but they did send me a pair of cages for no extra cost since they guarantee a replacement. every other time going back 10 years, since the original cage i was given a voucher for the retail price of the shoe.. including my most recent one which was very recent as the stuff i bought with it came in two days ago. i think you were unlucky.. as i was that one time.. i hope the policy hasn't changed. it has kept me completely loyal to nike for a very long time.

I go through them too fast to pay full/near retail, even though they are comfortable and fit my feet well.

i was thinking over what i wrote before and i realized i forgot an important detail. it was actually a pair of cage 2's i picked up at a nike factory store for like $50 just when the cage 3 came out and i sent it back for the voucher. they sent me the back a voucher for what i paid for them..saying they can't offer a full replacement since the cage 2 is gone. they did after some complaining send me a pair of cage 3's and voided my voucher. once prior to that they sent me a voucher for what i paid for a pair of cage 3's..i spoke to them and they voided that voucher and sent me a new one for full value.. and lastly i just received a voucher a week ago and it was for the full value after paying $63.. i am also about three weeks into a new pair that is going fast.. warm weather in my area means i am putting in quite a few hours every week on these soles and will be going through this process again shortly. i hope nike has not changed its policy.. it was the best one out there and has kept me 100% loyal to them for a decade or more

Has anyone else encountered the same result? I just purchased some zoom cage 3's below MSRP. If the warranty only covers the discounted price, then I will return them and buy something else.

I just returned another pair and my voucher was approved. I should have it in the mail this week, so I can update. Hoping it was a one-off confusion.

Got the price I paid again--$97.50 from a clearance pair from TW. If you want a replacement pair, it's probably best to return through TW now if you didn't pay full price.

That's really interesting. This will definitively stop me from purchasing Nike sneakers again. While the TW offer to return the sneakers to them alleviates the problem, me, like most, do not exclusively shop at TW.

I believe the warranty card has some sort of statement saying that Nike may change or alter the policy as they see fit at any time...I still have one more pair of cages to go through before my stockpile is gone, and I will not be buying them anymore. I get 4-5 weeks max from them teaching and playing, and I get 8-10 from a pair of Asics Resolutions for a similar price. As good as the Nikes look, the Asics are a smidge more comfortable and perform just as well.

it's been a heck of a run.. been wearing a version of the cage for 10 years.. returning 4-5 pairs a year..always enjoyed buying a bunch of nike gear with the voucher. just mailed a pair of cage3's in that i paid $62 for.. hoping everything i read her is false

they received the shoes july 3rd... awarded the voucher 5 days ago.. should be here any day now. i am not hopeful.

Good luck. I'm also interested in your result because I have a pair of lunar ballistecs I found at the nike clearance store that I will be sending in early next month.

still nothing..but the mail hasn't come yet. nike will not honor any shoe past 2 years of manufacturing. the date is on the tongue. your lunar ballistecs are way past and probably not worth paying the shipping to only get rejected completely. I wore the tags off a pair of cage 3's slipping them on and off with that integrated sock liner design. they rejected them because the tags couldn't be read and therefore not proven to be less than 2 years old. i ultimately took them back to the retailer..they refunded my purchase price as defective.

I actually have a screenshot of a chat that I had with a nike rep that I will include with my warranty submission. The rep said in the chat that they would honor it. I also have the warranty card it came with that I will also include.

i kept going to the mailbox expecting it to arrive.. i just got off the phone and they are resending a voucher as the last one was mailed on the 12th.. the good news is the amount is for $130 as usual.. so nike users take heart.. the best durability guarantee out there is still alive.

I actually received a full $130 voucher today for a pair I purchased at the outlet for $48...I'm pleasantly surprised but still am not a fan of the inconsistency from Nike. I'd love something reliable on the policy or even an option to pick a tennis-specific shoe of equal or lesser value of the original pair.

so i just spoke with the nike rep regarding the status of my nike warranty claim....... paid $56 for my lunar ballistecs from a clearance store....... and nike is sending me a $56 gift card....... i'll never buy another warranty nike shoe ever again

Just got 2 more lunar ballistic vouchers from a couple of outlet pairs for the full retail of $165. Consistency from Nike would be great on this front...I guess I got lucky this time

I just called for my claim number. The rep told me I would receive a refund based on what I paid, not MSRP. I asked if this changed recently and she told me it changed around June. She also told me there would be an option to exchange the shoes if purchased through Nike, or Nike.com, etc. but only a refund of what you paid if purchased through a third-party. I'm not sure how confident she was with that last statement.

I never encountered an issue where nike gives less than the MSRP value. This is coming from buying shoes from validated stores such as my local tennis shop and tennis warehouse. I would be hesistent to purchase shoes from other places as they wont honor their warranty when bought somewhere else.

But when was the last time you submitted shoes for a warranty claim though? From reading the forums and my experience, this has been a policy change effective with this year

I bought the shoes from a reputable online tennis store.

Gone are the days of the full MSRP refund I guess.

This one is interesting though. Burlington did not strike me as an "authorized retailer".... this one was more of an experiment

The 18 bucks to ship them and the 45 buck return is almost not worth the time and effort considering I would need to buy from Nike.com and their prices are hardly in line with seasonal discounts and what not.
