How does the Prince Precision Response 710 compare to the 660 model

Hi all,

I fully appreciate that there are natural differences between an MP and an OS. However, as a point of reference for this question, I always found that the TT Warrior MP and OS were both equally good at the same things (volleys, slice, balance of power and control) and lent themselves naturally to the same serve-volley game style. It wasn't a case, of often happens, where they were similar in name only.

I was wondering if the same holds true with the Precision Response 660 and 710. I find the 660 (the MP) an outstanding serve-volley racquet and one of the best I've found on volleys. However, they're getting harder to find and I'm getting older (fatter and slower). So, I wondered if the OS might be the same viable option it was with the Warrior.

I can see the specs of each racquet for myself, what I'm hoping to get is input from people who've hit both racquets. Thanks in advance.

I've tried all the Responses MP, except the 660. CTS was ok, Ti great, Classic 97 sucked, in my opinion. TT Warrior MP was good, but hurt my wirst.
I have tried the 710, and it was one of the worst racquets ever, for me. I did some customization but I still could never produce any power, spin, control, serves, volleys... simply not for me. It does look great, I must say, but totally useless, in my hands. Very different from the POG OS, that is as solid as a racquet should be.

Eman,

Thanks very much. I agree with your feelings about the Classic and the Warrior MP.

Maybe I could look at the CTS Lightning OS.

Andrew,
I played recently with the PR 660 as I was intrigued with the design and technology. I found that frame did serve great and volley great, especially with low-low/mid string tensions - and soft natty g. Other posters have talked of how low powered it is - regardless of the frame's profile. I agree with that. I liked the frame, but the low powered nature, for me, made it a little too demanding. I was not crazy about the feel on low speed touch shots. If my arm was younger, some lead might have helped...
I preface my comments on the 710 with the 660 for the sake of comparison. I found the 710 similar in feel. Very light in hand and soft for the hefty profile. Oddly enough, some earlier Volkl frames remind me of this feel - wide yet low powered. The dense string pattern intrigued me. The 710 was more powerful yet not real solid or stable for me. Some weight might really help out here. Again, definitely related to the 660, but a far more friendly response. Not as exact, but far easier to play with. That dense 18X21 pattern might be superior with natty g. I have those 710s in the closet for when I may need such a friendly OS frame - maybe almost there.
In sum, possible a great platform for a control OS frame - easy on the arm, also.
The Tech in this series was impressive for that time, imho...
