how does the Pure Drive Roddick play?

wondering how this racquet plays, got offered this racquet in a trade, my MG Radical Pro for a Pure Drive Roddick, is this a good trade? also i have played with a Pure Drive Cortex + because and it felt pretty nice, so all of ur opinions would be greatly appreciated

It's heavier, stiffer, and hits a bigger ball than the standard pure drive. It also was tougher on my arm. It is worlds different than the prestige pro. I think it's a fair trade, but it will be a different racket.

I'm using the PDR with pro hurricane 16 gauge strung at 60 lbs. With this "setup", I think the PDR is very solid, and you can add a lot of spin to your shots, goes out more compared to some other racquets when hitting flatter shots though (for me at least).

Compared to your rad pro i would say more stable, better serves, more power, less control. The ball will fly on you if you are not topspinning hard. You have to string it tight to control it and its a little zingy on the arm. If I had to pick I'd pick the Roddick but if I really had to pick I'd pick a 6.1 95

oh, but i was only offered a PDR, so idk if i should make the trade or not

Like a Bazooka. Lots of Boom. Not a lot of precision. Boom. BOOM. BOOOM!!! Used it for a year. Too much BOOM for me.

If you play with heavy topspin and like to blast away from behind the baseline i would make the trade. Thats just me though. I'm not sure what you dont like about the radical. The one I tried had a cheapy twangy feel

the Radical Pro is great by all means, but i have decided to stick with the M-Fil 200 18x20s i recently aquired, so id like another racquet to try

I'd make the trade. It's true you have to hit with more spin to keep the ball in, but it's not unmanageable by any means. Trade for it, string it up with medium powered at a reasonable tension and give it a go. IIRC, mine was 11.7 oz., 7pt HL (strung weight and balance) that had Prince Lightning 17 at 57 lbs.

Too much "BOOM" for you and yet you used if for a year? :-?

Played with old school rackets before a 10yr hiatus. Came back, demoed a few rackets, went with the PDR and gave it about 9 months while trying to get my strokes back together. Once the strokes came back I had a better sense of what wasn't working and why and switched to something more suited to my now-improved strokes.

Interesting point here. . . while you suck, the racket doesn't really matter. When you get better you start to figure out what you really need.

I would only add the PDR is less easy to swing and suffers by comparison in the maneuverability dept. And though it isn't massively heavy, some ppl argue the weight distribution feels a bit, er, unusual and cumbersome.

Very true. I used this racq for a good 2 months -I could not play with it in consecutive days b/c I actually need my arm!
The racquet is not heavy, compared to my RD7, PS85, Max 200G and so forth. But, the weight distribution of the racquet makes it suck at maneuverability dept. So many disadvantages over advantages which I wrote previously.
