How does the Ultra Tour play compared to a Prestige MP or 18x20 Radical MP?

More easy power than Prestige mp? Same? More maneuverable? Less?
Any of you played with the new ultra Tour and either a Prestige or Radical from recent past (when the Rad was 18x20)? Thanks!

I'm familiar with IG/Youtek/Graphene XT Prestige MP and Liquidmetal/Microgel/Youtek/IG Radical mp. The new Wilson is tempting but if it's just the same as, say, my Liquidmetal Radical MP, I'll keep my old racquets.

I'm especially curious about the weight and swingweight. Does it swing easier than a Prestige MP? Easier than a Blase 98?

Played with all the mention and had the luxury of using the Ultra Tour for a few weeks.
Certainly a contender but just not the best for my game.
Would require some serious customizing the areas of weight and balance, if I had not others choices.
Also was not hooked on the overall feel.
Compare to the stated sticks above, spec wise the ultra tour is more closer to the Rad MP, the Prestige MP closes also but in stock wise weights a statuc oz. more.
Power wise, the are all dense pattern control sticks and are somewhat similar(different players and string setup- your mileage may vary).
All that can be tweaked a bit with customization and the right stringbed setup, with the right swing.
Manageability / maneuverability , the ultra tour a stock 6 pt Hl and 11.4, 319 SW. All are easy frames to get around (for me).
Boils down to the player, I prefer heavier frames and much more HL than 6 Pts.
So what the hall does all this mean...
Well...All this means demo time for you...your hands can tell...
Me, I will still stick with my tri angells tc 97 18 x 20.
The angell gives me, the over feel, stability, plow throu, manuev.. equates to the best all around stick for my game.
I hope you find what works best for you...

be open, again if done right the right frame will find you...
dont follow the hype nor the crowd.
Follow your gut, your brains and your hands....
You might be surprised...

My primary sticks are or WERE the igyt prestige mp and the graphene prestige mp. I still have the original release of the mg radical mp. I’m switching to the ultra tour. It’s similar to the prestige but feels even better and more solid. One of the positives about the ultra tour is the fact that it has room like the mg radical mp to customize to your own preferred spec in a stiffer prestige like frame.

Thanks both of you!
Like @CopolyX said, it definitely requires customization though. As long as you are comfortable tweaking and tuning, I recommend you give it a try. If you want a plug and play off the shelf, pass cuz it’s anemic in stock form.

Mine has a tw leather grip. I added another 3g of lead inside the trapdoor. Couldn’t add inside the hairpin cuz mine is filled with silicone and foam. Applied 2g at 12. 1g each at 5 and 7. Plays like a better feeling prestige. A little less power but more precise. Also plays better than the prestige when I’m hitting from defensive positions. Not sure why, but it does.

thanks, as an ex usrsa master tech. no issues customizing. as stated I had it for two weeks but again you can customize feel. the overall foam solid feel of the angell has me locked in. The only reason I wanted my hands on this, is to stay on top of equipment awareness, learning and testing. i have a large part time clientèle, so I try to do my best to recommend and guide them though any equipment conundrum ..still it is subjective and mental...
glad you have found what works best for you.

thanks, as an ex usrsa mrt no issues customizing. as stated I had it for two weeks but again you can not customize feel. the overall solid foam eel of the angell (ordered customized for me- three) has me locked in. The only reason I wanted my hands on this ultra t, is to stay on top of new equipment awareness, learning and testing. i have a pretty strong client base, so I try to do my best to recommend and guide them though any equipment conundrum ..still it is abc, subjective and mental process also..

Wasn’t implying you weren’t comfortable customizing. But rather making a point to @DonDiego that the ultra tour would not be a frame for him if he doesn’t like to fuss around with lead. There are those folks who hate tweaking and just want to be able to grab a frame and hit good with it straight away. My point was the ultra tour is not one of those frames. If he’s comfortable experimenting on his own, I recommend he give it a try.

Angell racquets are amazing! I haven’t tried the tc97. Well I have but it was a few years ago but the sw was too high plus it was an extended length and I couldn’t get that log around. Lol. But the feel was top notch. I still have a bunch of 16/19 tc100 and tc95s in my collection but I’ve evolved to 18/20s now.

I play with Liquidmetal rad mp in stock form and have no problem. 2 grams of lead at 12 on my Microgel rad mp, so I don't need a heavy racquet. Do you still think I will have to customize the Ultra Tour? Thanks.

Thanks I hear you but I never try not to ever discourage anyone from trying any stick. my point was to try and be open.
the old demo, demo, demo...
But yes, I do try to raise the flag when customization is involved. Raising awareness...
Not to not...
Just to understand there is a process to follow and not haphazard.
Or seek someone with experience...

Only way to know for sure is to demo or get one used to try. My good friend jgads knows what I like and after he got one, texted me and wrote that I HAD to try one myself. I dawdled. Procrastinated. Finally got one off the board. By the 3rd hit after messing around with the lead setup and finally comparing it back to back to back with my igyt prestige mp, I said, “WOW!”

It my go to racquet now and play with it stock. Can do 140 mph return of serves and very good placement for aces and unreturnables. Groundstrokes are solid and can be use to work the point to get the advantage instead of hitting out for a winner. Very confident racquet for my game.

If only Blake could hit the return that hard!

'Superafa' looks like he's wielding a Bryan Brothers Special; it even has what looks vaguely like a black 'P' stencil!!
