He's already 31 in the world at 19. That's outstanding in this era of tennis. He seems to be a lot more mentally stable than either Kyrgios or Tomic and has a much better work ethic.

I don't know about a slam but I could see him cracking the top 10 and staying there for a while in a couple of years.

Do you mean relative to his peers or overall level?

His overall level is already better than Laver, Mcenroe, Borg, Agassi and close to Sampras maybe.

It might sound crazy but it really shouldn't be a controversial statement.

Athletes are simply fitter and faster than ever before.

In terms of relative accomplishments, he could maybe be an Andy Murray or Stan Wawrinka but he'll never be a Fedovical.

How high do I think he can go? Top 20 probably. How high do I want him to go? Significantly lower than where he is now.

He might be a nice kid. I just can't get past how scrambly his game is, it's like watching some weekend warrior play in the pro tour. Some people might find it endearing but as someone who really doesn't enjoy playing with and against people who coast entirely on their athletic ability over tennis ability, I want him to influence as few up and coming players as possible.

He is currently listed @6'1 and weigh 152lbs. That's too skinny. At his height, he needs to be 180lbs and ripped with muscle to play big men tennis. Something like this:

180? he'd go from being the fastest to the slowest player on tour.

good for you. i'm just saying i don't think adding 30 pounds would work for him.
It worked for Hewitt back in the day, why not De Minaur? During Hewitt's early years he was about 140. But he was still very quick at 180 in 2005 or so -- he just had more power on his shots.

I don't think De Minaur is finished growing.

Now if De Minaur got up to around 200 or so... I'd say that wouldn't work for him.

Nadal is listed as 6 feet 1 and weigh 188lbs. For De Minaur who is listed at 6 feet 1, 180lbs sounds about right. He needs to gain more muscle to compete with big boys.
180-183 or so is about right, remember everyone gains and loses weight (water weight). You cannot keep yourself at a specific exact weight even day to day...

If he was 190 I'd think he was too heavy, but 180 is right in the striking zone. He will be big enough to have power but small enough to be incredibly quick still.

It depends on a lot of factors....Rafa is listed as 6'1", 188 (and Fed about the same, but a different-looking build) and both can fly around he tennis court (I'm not willing to put that in the past tense).

I'm hoping he wins Slams. He has the mental and physical fitness for it.

I agree. If he puts on more muscle, he will be able to use it to augment what is a good game. Otherwise, he's a poor man's Simon.

Simon is actually a pretty good indicator of what De Minaur is capable of. They play the same no-miss thrive-on-unforced errors game.

Only difference is Simon looks balanced out on the court while De Minaur went to the 'Nadal School of Making Things Look Harder Than They Are'.

And how can he add more height?
If De Miñaur adds more muscles he can end up like Mark Whalberg, a Hollywood actor. But he is not winning Slams, no matter how much he visits the gym.:p

And what make you an "expert" that he can not win GS. Complete B.S.

People said the same sh_t about Russell Wilson and Drew Brees, not being tall enough to play the quarterback position, let alone win the Superbowl and become All Pro. Both have proven their critics wrong.

I've seen De Minaur at CitiOpen this year and he definitely has the movement and quickness to "potential" winning the GS in a few years. He is a bit on the skinny side. He needs to bulk up a bit more. I watched De Minaur against a much bigger and stronger Rublev and De Minaur won. At the moment, he lacks the power to compete with the big boys. If he gains another 28lbs of muscle like the Djoker, he definitely can beat all of the Next Gen.

I am an expert, a prophet, a messiah. I have spent 3 seconds of my life analyzing De Miñaur's game and I can tell you he is not winning Slams. The poor guy lacks natural talent and physical conditions, both of which are a necessary condition to win Slams.

The prophet has talked. The truth has been exposed. De Miñaur will never win a Grand Slam.

I think that De Minaur winning even one slam in the future would be all the evidence needed to prove that the state of the game fallen significantly.

A guy like De Minaur who has practically zero tennis specific talent (the game isn't about running fast) winning more grand slams than Del Potro would actually be offensive to me.

Can crack the top 10 but is essentially Lleyton Hewitt / David Ferrer 2.0 he won't have the weapons to go further and won't have the benefit that Lleyton did of a nice slam window between Pete and Roger. By the time he reaches his peak he'll have Zverev, Thiem, Khachanoc, Coric etc which much bigger weapons dominating the tour. There is no shame in that though, he will definately maximise his potential as Hewitt & Ferrer did.

guys/gals no need to tank 1 of the very few top aus players n that's only we got anyway at least he's aus no.1 right now. like or not wat can u do abt it:?))) he might be top 5 or bottom 5 who cares as tennis's a personal sport only represent themselves, nothing to do with any1 else unless in 1 or 2 tours to play 4 their countries so plz give them a break.

top 5 or bottom 5 only showing statistics how/wat the ppl in a country produce really. both aus n usa atp went down hill for quite a long while n bad enough already. tanking won't solve the problems so might give our a bit 2c tip if we have any n might be a bit help:))))..................

I wouldn't rule him out as a future top 5 and someone winning a couple of slams. Especially given, you know, the direction tennis is going in terms of slowed down courts. But yeah he needs to develop a Thiem-esque physique along the way.

lololol man he's tanking himself.....try to hold yar breath at front of screen w/ this fella, let alone to walk in bottom of the water w/ that much resistance. hope he's doing well in ao2019 good or bad they'r the only a few things we got n no body can do anything abt the trendy down turn anyway:)))))).....................
