Connors played a terrible match. I think the 99 Wimby final or 03 semi/final were just as impressive and probably more so given that the opponents in those matches were in decent form.

If you're just going by Finals, even still Connors was past prime in 1984. That same old guy beat McEnroe in 5 sets after John was up 2-1 in 1982.

Hewitt beat Nalbandian 6–1, 6–3, 6–2 in 2002, both in prime.
Becker defeated Edberg 6–0, 7–6(7–1), 6–4 in 1989 with both in prime.
Borg beat Connors 6–2, 6–2, 6–3 in 1978, again, both in prime.
