How is Novak helping Hamad Medjedovic... Story...

Eldin Medjedovic, the father of Serbian tennis player Hamad, revealed the background of his son's success and the role that Novak Djokovic played in it.

On Saturday, Hamad defeated Artur Fiss at the Final Tournament for players under 21 years of age in Jeddah and thus took the title of the best young tennis player in the world.

According to Eldin, a large part of the credit goes to the best tennis player in the world.

"Novak really works hard for Hamad. In all ways: financially, mentally and socially. I remember another conversation with Novak. Then we specifically talked about the steps in Hamad's career. And here, I'll tell you honestly, I pinched myself during that conversation that I would convince myself that all this is happening. He was proposing ideas to me, what to do about Hamad and I remember saying to him: 'Nole, I'm sorry, but it all costs money! 'we will, what will we do, and he adds: 'It's up to Hamad to train, I'll do the rest!' I tell him again: 'Nole, that costs money!'" said Eldin in an interview with "Sportal" and continued:

"Then Novak told me: 'Edo, I'm not doing this for money! I have a place where I earn money. Simply, my role and my task is to help. What kind of person would I be if I didn't help children who deserve it, who love tennis? I listen to him, and he adds: 'You know what we're going to do? Tomorrow, when Hamad succeeds, you will also take someone whom you will help!'"

The first racket of the world did not remain only in words...

"During the whole year 2021, we didn't pay a single penny for all the coaches, complete trips, hotels, plane tickets, physiotherapists, masseurs, preparations they went to together. And that's not a small amount of money in the world of tennis. It's really a big sum. One coach costs a lot, so where are the fitness coach, physiotherapist, pitches... Imagine, the best in the world calls my child to go to training together. Imagine that! It would be like Ronaldo or Messi calling you, and they say: 'Let's go to football!' or 'Call me if you need something!' These things seem a bit foreign in today's time, but thank God there are people who are not all about money, but look at humanity," Međedović concluded.

Firstly, it was Djokovic who unnecessarily brought politics into this realm with his "left field" comments on Serbia and Kosovo, during a time when border tensions were at a dangerously high level.

Secondly, Medjedovic - or his family - are clearly of Bosniak heritage, so it's perfectly valid to question Novak's personal motivations for taking Hamad under his wing, given my first point.

I'm all for "taking politics out of sport", but when the sportsperson themself takes it into this territory, then, of course, fans will also have their say...
Again, first sentence and it's politics. Medjedovic is Serbian, as well as Laslo Djere, for example. Serbia is multiethnic nation and there are a lot of Bosnians, Croats, Slovaks, Hungarians, Romanians, etc, but they are born and live in Serbia and treat theirselves as Serbs. I know what your Western media delivers about Serbia to you, but it's false, sorry to tell you that. I have Hungarian and Slovenian descent and not once I had trouble in my life, yes I live in Serbia.

Almost half of the World still didn't recognise Kosovo as independent country, btw, so I don't know what border are you mentioning. Countries like Spain, Ukraine, Romania, Greece, Russia, Belarus, Slovakia, Bosnia, India, China, Brazil, Argentina, Indonesia, Chile, still consider Kosovo as part of Serbia.

Not that I care about all of this, I don't care about Kosovo at all, to be honest. But since you are bringing this, and I saw few weeks ago you talked something like this too, I had to address it.

Enjoy the game, stop being old man. Ignore the politics.

Isn’t this Greenwood guy a political right wing journo? Surprised to see him comment on Djokovic and tennis.
I think he can hardly be called "right-wing". Worked with Snowden to release the NSA surveillance data on US citizens. Appears to be a tennis fan. Who knows..
