At the State Combo Tournament last fall, our team played against a player on a team who was rated with a 3.0 (M) Mixed rating. They played 7.0 Mixed in 2006, 7.0 Mixed doubles and 7.5 combo in 2007, and then last season they played 6.5 and 7.5 combo, but no 7.0 mixed. Again this season, they are skipping mixed, but playing 7.5 and 6.5 combo. In 2008, they were undefeated in both levels of Combo in 17 regular season matches, but did finally lose a couple at states.
My question is, if not playing Mixed or adult, only Combo, and since combo does not count against your rating, how long can the player keep their Mixed exclusive rating? I guess if they finally lose their rating due to not playing adult or mixed, it would not matter since they are just playing combo, they can just self rate as a 3.0 again, and would never get bumped up unless they played adult or mixed again. I am still just curious as to how long you can keep a self rating or a mixed exclusive rating when only playing combo leagues.
