It took me 3 years. I didn't really play much during the winter the first year. I highly doubt you guys are 4.0's after less than one year. You're probably 3.0's or low 3.5's.
3 years of 6 days a week, 4-5 hours a day.
By then, I could go 3-4 rounds in A-Open tournaments, but NEVER win one.
I seriously doubt anyone under 18 can make 4.0 tournament level after less than FIVE full years of coached tennis. You are just not strong enough, just not quick enough, don't have the strategy in your head, haven't played nearly long enough to have the strokes, and certainly can't volley, overhead, halfvolley, in addition to consistent groundies, flat serves, topspin serves, twist serves, and placement to all 3 locations with each.
Not true. I've heard of kids being sectionally ranked after 2-3 years of play. Sectionally ranked top 20 is easily a 4.0 and probably more like a 4.5 or 5.0 depending on the age group.3 years of 6 days a week, 4-5 hours a day.

I think I'm a low 4.0 right now. I'm nationally ranked 14 year old. I took me 3-4 years. It's almost impossible to become a 4.0 in anything less than 2.5 years.

Not true. It depends on your natural talent and the age you start at. I wouldn't be surprised if it took some really gifted players a year or so to become 4.0.
Oh, you're good alright. Good at making us laugh. You made Bahamas Goombay Punch come out my nose - and I wasn't even DRINKING Bahamas Goombay Punch! [Note: It went down Grape Fanta and came out Bahamas Goombay Punch. Does this mean I have a bleeding ulcer?] Thanks for the giggles, keep up the good work. Later Slater - JDIt took me negative 4 years to become a 4.0. Yeah, that's how good I am.
