What level are you? // I'd guess folks at the low (<4.0) and high (5.5+) ends don't go through sneakers so fast (eg. low level don't move feet, high level move feet very efficiently).
What sneakers do you use?
What surface do you usually play on?

I just went through my Adidas Barricade V's in 2 mos: 3/28-5/28

I'm sad because it took 1 mo of pain just to break in my sneakers.
Im happy because it *seems* like a good indication that I'm moving my feet more (eg. small steps taken prior to hitting).

i think i can get about 4 months out my barricade IVs and Vs. i am a baseline counterpuncher and move a lot... but don't really beat up my shoes too badly. i drag my toe on my left foot (left handed) and that is where most the wear is. i play on hard courts.

i don't know that level will really have too much to do with how quickly people run through shoes. it would probably mostly depend on how often they play (obviously) and how they move their feet and whether or not they drag them or not.

level 4.0 or 4.5 you'd be surprised how much i move my feet. My coach claims i have the best footwork in my class.
I used the air vapor 3's which lasted 2-3 months
Using new Breathe Cage and i've only use it for a week and i haven't done to much damage to it.

I am a 4.5 player with good footwork(not much draging) so shoes normally last me 4-5 months. I just get the Adidas Triand III, but am now thinking to try the Babolat All Court II or III's.I like the two tone color, it looks awsome.

I go through a pair about every 6-8 weeks. Shoe is Prince MV4.
I play on hard courts majority of time. 5.0, male, serve/volley player.

I just ordered a pair of these. I guess I can't expect it to last through the summer :(
... unless I start playing only on har-tru/clay

I like to change every 6 months, because they have usually worn out by then but they have definately taken a good beating, being used for about 15-20 hours a week and my footwork is very active. I also walk through mud, rocks, etc. on my way to tennis every day so there you go.

/Start thinking aloud

So far 20-22 folks here likely take advantage of the 6/7 mo outsole warranty, and 5 folks never do.. I guess sneaker companies must be really marking up their price if they expect to make a profit... If you figure the average cost of a high end tennis shoe (with warranty) is ~$90, and most folks take advantage of the warranty... ~45/shoe... Their cost for the shoe/research/marketing/distribution has to be in the 25-30 range to make a profit.

I think my idea that higher level players go through sneakers less quickly is flawed (eg. move more efficiently). I wonder how quickly the pros go through sneakers if 4.5-5.5 folks are going through theirs in 2 mos.

I generally buy 2 pairs of shoes at a time and rotate them. I play half on hard-tru and half hard courts. I play 2-3 times a week and can go 6-9 months before they wear out. Half the time I dump the shoes while they are perfectly fine so I can try something new.

I am a 4.0 with pretty poor footwork

Ususally about 4-5 weeks, sometimes a little longer depending on the shoe. I'm a junior so NTRP doesn't apply, so that makes me a 6.0 right? ;)

I'm 3.5 and I chew through the toe portion of my barricade IVs in 3 months almost every time, really annoying.

Haven't bothered using the warranty, only the top half of the shoe is worn out, with the toe part beat up the most. Not sure if it would qualify.

Just got back another pair of Adidas Barricade V's under the 6 mo warranty (wore out in 2 mos; new sneaks in a 2 week turn around time)... so ~$120 for 2 pairs of high quality sneaks, not bad.

I had bought a pair of Prince MV4's (with 6 mo warranty) to try in the interim, so I'll probably use the Prince's for hard court, and the Barricade's for har-tru.

I wonder what % of folks that do wear there shoes out in < 6mos do NOT claim the warranty? I wonder if that stat figures into their (any company that gives a sneaker warranty) return on investment. I guess it's like product rebates, most folks don't bother with the fuss of filling in the card, cutting out the upc, and sending it back to the company for the rebate.

If I play about 1hour a week with a coach and a couple hours matches (which is a lot for the UK as a hobbyist) then I go through my pairs usually one a year. Hard courts mostly.
I think my k-swiss were teh most hard-wearing i had. Nike weren't significantly worse but the impressive cushioning quickly disappeared.
New balance were broken very quickly but I just kept wearing them anyway - outside was fine, but the inside had lost cushioning at support was gone. But i didn't care - i just ran less.

When I head off to greece I will end up playing about 4 1.5hour sessions with a coach a week and another day or two of matches, so let's say at most 10hours a week. Then I pretty much destroy my new shoe within two months. but i then still use it afterwards until the next summer.

We don't have these NTRP things in the UK, but looking at the list I'm shocked that I would be considered a 5 but without the dependable consistency.

Mine go a little over six months before I replace them for anything other than serve practice. The soles are usually decently worn out at that point but the cushioning of the shoe is pretty shot so I break out a new pair. I'm never really close to being able to use the outsole warranty. I'm a 4.0 playing about 3-4 times per week.

Sponsor gives us a set for the fall and a set for the spring, so I guess that constitutes 6 mo. I'm a solid 4.5 Div I Big East player but I'm also a relatively thin girl, so there's probably not as much friction than if I was a guy or something.

I've got two pairs of Barricade IV's, which I bought at the same time, and its been almost a year and a half! Still in great shape, but then again, I dont play as much as I used to or would like to.... Responsibilities, they're a *****!!

Before using Barricades, my shoes would last about 6 months, maybe less...

I play 4.5-5 tennis, and "slide" alot on hardcourts!

Hard court only, ~10 hours/week, 4.0 level, mainly S&V (3 times per week matches, once just hitting, once usually ball machine and serve practice)... shoes usually last 3-5 months (Barricades)

Usually 3 months to wear a hole from dragging on the side of the shoe or on the sole. My Babolat Propulse 3s laster 3 months because I like to stretch for shots, and when I do I drag my foot on the side of the shoe. So the mesh was worn all the way through.

When I started playing I blew through the black/silver barricade 5's in 6 months.

I wisend up and bought shoes left and right as long as they're on sale. I've got 6 shoes on rotation now. Two of them are probably done in a few months.

Now that I've gotten better and am playing more (minimum 4.5 hours a week). The remaining 4 should last me until next year.
